Today is the Super Bowl, but the Browns just barely missed out this year by not winning any games at all, and the Seahawks were pretty mediocre, so we have no interest in the game. But there is a Superb Owl we want to share with you - Luke's first real art project from elementary school!
Anyways, Monday Luke had the day off from school so he got to help drop Jacy off at school! Luke had a chance to see all his old teachers, and instead he...hid. And lied down on the floor. And of course Jacy had to do whatever her older brother was doing!
On Tuesday Amit got to take Jacy to gymnastics while Marinda got fluids at the hospital. Jacy had a blast doing rolls, going upside down, and running around in circles.
One the way to get Marinda from the hospital it was sunny and Jacy said she needed her sunglasses. She also was super tired so she ended up just sitting there and fell asleep...with her sunglasses on.
Other fun stories:
•Luke is getting so much better at reading now! In the past couple months he's gone from reading one line a night in the scriptures with difficult to reading one verse a night! And he's able to read simple books by himself (mostly). He keeps saying he's not good at reading, but he's gotten so much better and we're so proud of him!
•Our Xbox died last week after 7+ years of service. It had a good run, but it was time to buy a new one. Marinda naively suggested just getting the best console out there, until Amit convinced her that we didn't need an Xbox One X to play Netflix and Lego Star Wars. So we got a Xbox One S. On Monday, Amit took Luke to the Microsoft company store (since Luke didn't have school) to see if there were any good deals. Unfortunately they weren't, so we just got one off of Amazon. Luke helped pick out the Xbox, and since he had played Minecraft at Liam's house on Friday, he decided he wanted Minecraft for the Xbox. So we ordered it, and when Amit told Marinda, she freaked out because "Minecraft is like World of Warcraft for elementary school kids in terms of addictiveness." Oh well, too late! Luke is loving building his "house" in Minecraft and since the Xbox is password protected we now have increased leverage in getting Luke to do what we want him to do. That's how good parents do things, right?
•By the way, the reason Luke was at Liam's playing Minecraft is because we had to go the ER Sunday night. Marinda had bleeding and cramps, which are not good signs when you're 16 weeks pregnant. So we went there and dropped off the kids at Liam and Darcy's. Everything is fine, we just ended up waiting, and waiting, and waiting and...then we were done and they didn't even get Marinda any fluids even though her symptoms were likely brought on by dehydration. Tomorrow is week 17, so hopefully we're almost out of the worst of things, right?
•Jacy is such a clever problem solver now! She wanted to play with the light switch, so she used two stools to climb up!
•Amit took pictures of the kids after they were ready for church today. Jacy looks super-cute as always, and cooperated for the picture. Luke...was not so cooperative even though he really did look quite dashing
•The kids have apparently moved on from PJ Masks and are fully into Octonauts now. Yesterday we playing Octonauts, with Amit as Captain Barnacle, Luke as Shellington, and Jacy as Dashy. The kids are really into character, to the point that this morning Jacy woke up and said "Good morning Captain Barnacle!" to Amit.
This week we also finished going through the kids art!
