This week's theme is all about Luke being a scientist! His 100th day of school was on Valentine's Day, and to celebrate his class did a dress-up day: everyone could dress up as either someone from 100 years ago or someone 100 years in the future. Luke chose 100 years in the future, and he thought people will look like scientists. So we gave him Amit's "Genius" labcoat, fake glasses, and died his hair blue (because why not?).
Luke also has been doing scientist sketches. On Saturday, he went out to the backyard and collected some leaves, rocks, and other things to draw inside. He was really excited about this, and we're super proud of him and how much better he is at tracing and drawing!
Another one of Luke's scientific activities is that he's gotten into taking pictures again. Here are some that he's taken while playing with Jacy! They're blurry because they're usually running around chasing each other while taking pictures.
The last scientist story - Marinda told Luke about Messenger (the space probe we sent to Mercury). Luke was all into the story and how Marinda worked on it, but then he asked what happened to Messenger. She told him it crashed to the surface, and Luke started crying. Apparently he got attached to this space probe. Next time, we'll just tell him the probe is living on the surface.
We talked a lot about Luke, so here are some Jacy stories:
•One day during dinner, Jacy touched Amit's pocket and said "is that your phone?" Later she was petting his phone like a pet or baby.
•Jacy got very protective of Luke the other day. We called Luke for something and Luke was still playing. Jacy shouted back "Luke's doing something else right now. Leave Luke alone!" which may or may not be something we say to Jacy all the time :)
•Another time Jacy shouted was when we caleld Luke for scripture study. Jacy was already with us so she went to the family room and shouted "SCRIPTURE STUDY LUKE!"
•Last week, we dropped off the kids at a babysitters. We asked Luke who's the boss and he said "Stephanie!" We asked Jacy, and she said "I am!"
•Jacy is very violent towards spiders now. Marinda was playing spiders with Marinda and Jacy said "Oh I'm scared!" When she was asked what she was going to do, she said "Bite it!" Then this week, she saw a toy spider on the ground from Halloween and she grabbed the bed from her doll house and started smashing out.
•Amit took the kids to the park, and they wanted to bring their bikes. Jacy is still learning to use her strider bike, but she wanted to chase after Luke. Eventually, she got sick of walking on her bike and decided to run after him.
In non-kid (at least kids that are already born) news, Marinda keeps getting better. She finally got her midline out, so no more IVs! She's been taking Jacy to school, driving around, and hanging out with friends just to hang out. Things are not perfect, like on Wednesday, when she ran a massive errand with the kids (picking up something from the store) and got exhausted. But there's progress!
