Luke's First Laugh and 3 Months Old!

Luke laughed for the first time this week!  Normally he just smiles and coos but this week he did something that actually sounds like a real laugh.  See video below and set your heart to 'melt':
So what else has Luke been up to?  Yesterday he slept almost all day, so he's probably on a growth spurt.  He also really likes standing up, as you could probably tell from the laughing video.  We've been reading more to him and he likes touching the books (more like hitting the pages with his fists).  He's also become a lot more talkative.  Sometimes we'll be talking then all of a sudden we hear him say 'oooohhhh' or 'aaah-booo'.  Clearly we're just not listening to him.

This week Luke and Marinda starting doing yoga.  Luke loved watching his mom do all sort of funny moves and the yoga instructor practically had a heart attack from the cuteness when Marinda put Luke in some of the yoga poses.

On Tuesday we went to Discovery Park with some our friends Danny and Julene.  We made a picnic out of it and got to see a really pretty sunset.

Marinda has been obsessed lately with trying to get Luke to take his pacifier.  He loved his pacifier for the first couple months but lately he's found his fingers a more tantalizing snack.  Marinda has been trying (unsuccessfully) to get him back on the pacifier.  "She should just give up," says Amit.  "Luke's made his choice."  "Never!" Marinda responded.  "Never give up, never surrender!"

Rassberries were on sale this week for $1 each!  Marinda literally bought 20 things of raspberries.  After freezing 7 of them they'll have raspberries when they go back up to $4 each.

Part of our church duties involve putting on a dinner every month for the married students who go to UW.  We usually cook the meal, and there's a devotional afterwards.  It's called the Married Student Forum.  This week was the first event of the school year, so we had to get back into things.  Thankfully, we weren't alone in all this - a new senior missionary couple helped out with almost all the cooking.  We made (or really they made) our own version of Café Rio - burrito/salad with pulled pork and a tomatillo sauce.  Everyone really loved it.  For dessert we had smoothies.  On an interesting side note, Luke's carseat had a healthy amount of dessert.  Amit jokingly offered Luke some smoothie, and Luke uncharacteristically knocked it out Amit's hands all over himself and the carseat.  Luke didn't seem to mind, though Marinda nearly went ballistic.  But she was fine...eventually.  "After initially wanting to knock Amit's head off, I saw the humor in it and laughed," Marinda said.  "Yes," Amit added, "she laughed.  Maybe a little too hard."  Luke also had a date that night.  Another couple has a 3 month old baby girl and we put the two sitting across from each other, their carseats gazing towards each other.  Too cute.
What a cute couple!
Luke had to get his blood drawn this week for one of the studies we did while Marinda was pregnant.  He did such a good job being a good boy - he made a really sad face when the needle went in and as the blood was being drawn some big tears came out of his eyes, but he didn't make any noise at all.  He wanted to show off how he's such a big, mature boy now.
Look at that reader!  And note the cute little baby arm bandage...
It is just so little!
Speaking of which, Luke is officially 3 months old today!  Happy Birthday Luke!  You're growing up so fast!
Mommy's big boy!

Tall, dark and mysterious!  And very asleep.
A toast to Danny passing his boards!
