On Tuesday Amit received a mysterious message from Marinda - a picture of a toddler play car with no text description. Confused, Amit called her to find out what was going on (in Marinda's defense, she called first then texted, but Amit was apparently 'working' or something else made-up like that). The car shown in the picture below was on sale at Goodwill for a whopping $3. Yup, just under 11 Qatari Rial for this fine first car for Luke. (Note: the best toys will cost exactly $3)
Of course we bought it, how could we not? We knew Luke would like it. The only surprise was just how much he loved it. For about three days straight he lived in that car. When he got up he would say 'beep beep' to tell us he wanted to play with his car. When he was eating dinner he'd say 'beep beep' and try to throw himself out of his high chair. By Thursday he was even taking his blankets from his crib and putting them in the car - he literally was prepared to move into his car.
Luke has been talking up a storm lately. It seems like he's always talking, either saying 'beep beep' or 'uh oh!' or any number of words he picks up. We now have to be really, really careful about what we say and how we say it around him. At the grocery store Marinda was disappointed in herself for some reason and said "Man!" to express her self-disapproval. Next thing we know it, Luke is saying "Man!" with a big grin on his face. We can't even really keep a list of the words he's saying now because we can't remember everything he's said. It's so crazy watching him grow so quickly even in the span of a couple weeks!
On a similar note, we've also been trying to get Luke to say some of the words in his prayers at night. He definitely can't form sentences yet, but he can sort of make out a basic prayer like this (Amit's version is underlined, Marinda's is in italics) - and yes we are asking our faithful readers to take sides on this.
