5am Wakeup Call

This week has been an adventure in settling back in. Unfortunately with great travel comes great jet lag, especially for Luke. You see, we stayed long enough in Cleveland that he was completely on East Coast time by the time we left, meaning he was waking up at 3:30am west coast time. (Btw, isn't it weird that there's a 3 hour time difference between the two time zones in the country? Just kidding flyover states!) Anyways, it's been a long week of getting him back on schedule and catching up on our sleep.

At daycare this week Luke decided he wanted to play catch like he was doing in Cleveland. So he would pick up a ball, throw it one his teachers, and even put his arms out to try and catch it when they threw it back. The only question is: should be contacted baseball or football scouts?

Our return has also meant that the tranquil environment of Amit's parents' house has given way to the hustle and bustle of Seattle city life, which where we are can only mean one thing: Construction. They're building a parking lot across the street from us and it's really loud. Our house even vibrates when their giant drill is going. It certainly has made Marinda's harp lessons more interesting! "I joke with my students that it's the percussion of the universe joining them in song," Marinda says.

This week we managed to go on a super-special date to see the 'new' Hunger Games movie. Amit hadn't seen it yet and he had just finished the book, so Marinda thought it would be a good idea. "I loved it!" Amit said. "It matched the book pretty well and I thought it captured the essence of what the book felt like."  What made this date extra special was the fact that it was in a REAL theatre!  Yup, we splurged, and it was so worth it!

Last funny Luke story - we had pizza on Friday night because, well, do we really need to explain pizza?  Luke got really into it and was saying pizza all night.  Then to our surprise the next morning when we put in him his high chair for breakfast he announced to us all that he would like pizza!  It has been pretty funny watching him get more of a grasp on this whole verbal communication thing.  :)

Luke's daycare is also across the street from the construction, but the kids don't seem to mind too much :)
(Luke is the kid in the bottom right corner with the blue hat going up the stairs)
Marinda is a creeper and likes to check on Luke while he is sleeping.
When she saw him sleeping like this she just had to grab the camera!
