Winter Wonderland

It snowed in Seattle!  And not just your couple milimeters like usual that doesn't actually stick to the ground - this year, we'll be proudly measuring our snowfall in inches!  As a result, our view looks extra pretty today.

So what else happened this week?  Good question.  We finally went through the presents from the Misras in Cleveland.  It was stuff from India, mostly for Marinda.  And there was also a videocamera!  This was actually the video camera Amit and Marinda wanted to buy for Marinda's harp concert last May but were unable to because it stopped being on sale when they went to Best Buy to try and buy it.  Instead they got a much worse camera that did not live up to the 'Best' Buy name.

Anyways, we finally busted open the camera and promptly realized we will have nothing to record until the baby comes.  The first video (which will not be posted for your sakes) was of Amit zooming in on Marinda's face (it has 60x optical zoom, which from 5 feet away can give you and the bacteria on your face a very personal close-up).  After watching the video, both of them had the same reaction: "Is that really what I sound like?  <insert them trying different voices that don't seem to sound weird>"  Then Amit took this video of the snow (ignore the neighbors you can hear).

Other than that we didn't do much this week.  Oh except for on Tuesday we found out the sex of our baby.  But you probably want to hear all about Durandal.  Durandal has been reclaiming his territory.  Apparently locking him in a cage for 2 weeks made him very insecure so he now insists on letting us know what exactly is his area.  Also he follows both of us around and waits for us to pet him.  Its very cute.

Oh you actually want to hear about the baby?  Its a BOY!  His name will be Luke, but the middle name is still being decided.  We are signed up for a study where we get ultrasounds every month so that they can measure how babies grow all around the world.  Baby Luke is growing just fine but he was super uncooperative during the appointment.  Instead of posing for his pictures, he was doing a shoulder stand for most of it.  But it was really cool and great to be able to see him move in the womb!

We rotated it, because right side up Marinda couldn't
pick Luke out...
So now the work on preparing the nursery can officially begin!  If anyone is wondering, we are planning a 'jungle' theme.  So green, orange, brown and yellow are in, and purple (really Marinda?), blue, black, and Frosty the Snowman are out.

  1. I love the name Luke! Although It will be great when he is old enough to watch Star Wars and start making Luke Skywalker jokes.
