Fro Yo for Halloween!

Well, here we are - daylight savings time again. This is the first time it's affected Luke. He was a cranky boy all day with his schedule thrown off. He fell asleep for the entire 3rd hour of church and then didn't sleep at all the rest of the day. Then his meal schedule was all off, and you know how toddlers can be. And on top of that, when daylight savings time ends, the sun sets at 4:30 in the winter. Boo!

Anyways, on to our cute little boy. This week was Halloween and we took Luke trick-or-treating in U Village (the outdoor mall we live by). He went around to all the stores and practiced picking candy out of baskets and putting them in his bag. He even got to try frozen yogurt! After his first taste he made very unhappy face, probably because it was cold and a little tart. But then he kept going back for more!  We were going to go around the apartment complex, but he was so tired we decided that was enough for this year.  Happy Halloween!

Luke had lots of fun chewing on his collar tag
All the kids in Luke's daycare class. Notice how they're all like 'What is going on?' while the teachers are smiling.

Red Mango was giving out frozen yogurt instead of candy.
Luke kept asking for more while Amit is apparently falling asleep

"Good work Luke! Now mommy and daddy will eat all your candy for you!"
For our miscellaneous category - Luke can now climb into the bathtub on his own. He tried pineapple for the first time and loved it. He also is obsessed with shoes, particularly with grabbing his shoes when he wants to go outside. One day he even got really excited and started trying to put his shoes on daddy's feet! And then when that didn't work, he put daddy's shoes on his feet!

Other things Luke has done - he's said 'hi' a couple times. He's trying to verbalize more and more every day.  He's enjoying music more and more. When we sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to him and make the diamond with our hands he likes sticking his face in the diamond. He also likes dancing a lot.

Luke is also running a lot. His new favorite game is getting chased around the house by Amit. And when Amit catches him and tickles him, it's Luke's turn to chase Amit! It starts getting complicated when they start going around the coffee table - Luke starts off chasing Amit and ends up being chased at the end in the roundabout.  He has also finally figured out that he can drive his cars on surfaces.  He takes his little toy car and can drive it around the coffee table in circles.  We're just glad that he has found a new way to play with the coffee table that involves less gravity.

When we're outside, Luke is always trying to escape. It gets even worse when he has a partner in crime, like our downstairs neighbor Canon (he's 2).  This week Marinda and Canon's mom Jasmine were hanging out on the playground watching these two hoodlums playing, and in between blinks they somehow got from up above the stairs to turning the corner around the apartment building toward the road!  Marinda hasn't really gone running in forever, but you can bet she's faster than she ever was when she played soccer.  Crazy kids.  :P

We went on a date Friday night for Marinda's birthday (which is tomorrow), thanks to our amazing home teachers who offered to babysit for us. We got a quick dinner at Chipotle while discussing baby names for future children (no we're not pregnant, don't worry/get excited). Our best names: Peregrine (perry for short), Mitchell, Daniel, St. John (pronounced Sinjin from the Jane Eyre Movie), Giles (despite Amit's veto), Nehemiah, Jung Woo, but nothing new for a girl's name...yet. For the rest of our date, we saw Ender's Game in the real theater!  Oh yeah, we do this about twice a year so it is a real treat.  The movie was really good as well, but the comfy seats take the headline.

Last night we had our first real dinner party at our new place. We finally got to extend our table out all the way (there were 6 adults and 3 kids) and we even used our nice plates that we haven't used since we moved. Before dinner, Luke was starving because he hadn't eaten in years. So we sat him down at the kitchen table and gave him some cheerios and he behaved perfectly.  Clearly he is just throwing tantrums because we aren't recognizing his maturity.

By the way, for all you unbelievers, Amit has fallen in love with "I Miss You" as well.  Yes, perfectly logical, eye rolling Amit is the one who suggested "Jung Woo" during our naming date.  He originally started watching to be nice to Marinda as part of her birthday present, but he ended up liking it so much he watched the whole series with her! Even Durandal would come over and cuddle up to them and watch too.  Amit is now considering a carer as a detective with his sidekick "Crazy Rabbit."
