Luke's First Easter

Happy Easter! It has been a busy week for us, but let's start with today

This morning was exciting as Luke woke up to find that the Easter Bunny had come!  He got some connecting beads, a Peter Rabbit doll, a My First Easter bib, and a little truck with a bunny driving it.  Marinda and Amit also got some cadberry eggs - YUM!

On the more religious side of today, Amit performed in the ward choir and also played the piano in a trio with two of our good friends. They sounded great and Marinda was quite sneaky recording it during church (she kept the video camera shutter closed to only record the audio - so there isn't suppose to be a picture).

That night we had been invited to dinner with a couple of other friends, which was a terrific idea.  Now we could have the big Easter dinner but we only had to bring dessert!  Marinda decided to branch out and made a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting - and it was to DIE for!  A funny story while cooking - the recipie called for canola oil, but Marinda didn't have any so she used a combination of the rest of her vegitable oil, the rest of her coconut oil and olive oil to top it off.  But hey, it worked!  Luke had fun playing with the two other babies that were there (they all went for the shoes) and got to eat dinner on Amit's lap with all the grown ups - what a big boy!

Onto non-Easter things, we went on two(!) dates nights this past week. On Thursday one of Marinda's students performed with her middle school orchestra so we went to see her concert before grabbing some Thai food and fro-yo. The concert was particularly exciting because her students had a solo, which she did literally perfectly. She sounded great, she looked great, she aced it. We also discovered a new Thai dish - Rad Na. It's a rice noodle dish and it was really good. We even gave some to Luke the next day and he did great with it.

The next night was Good Friday. We went to a Good Friday concert at the church where our Stake choir and another church's choir, the Total Experience Gospel choir, performed. We thought it was alright. Definitely different than what we're used to. And afterwards we got fro-yo again and bought some $1.50 salad dressing at QFC including Thousand Island WITH Bacon! Hey, don't judge.

Saturday we went to campus to see the Cherry Blossoms as a family because Marinda had had such a good time going there with her walking group the day before. It was incredibly crowded, so we saw them, than found a nice secluded meadow and let Luke roam around. He had so much fun playing with the grass, trying to eat EVERYTHING and crawling through daddy's legs.

As a side note for this week - Marinda and Amit have started taking online classes.  It all started when Amit suggested to Marinda that she should look into learning more about graphic design, and that led to them discovering this website called Coursera.org where to can sign up to take University classes online for free.  You don't get a certificate or anything for completing them, but you do get to watch lectures and complete assignments.  It is pretty cool - Amit is taking one on Web Intelligence and Big Data and another one to up his Python skills.  Marinda is taking one on Computational Photography, which is basically on what is going on under the hood of photoshop.  She is super excited because she gets to learn Python finally!  "What do you mean I don't have to use semi colins?!?!  World - Shattered!"

Anyways...  We hope that you have a great week and enjoy this Easter Video!
