(In sports announcer voice) Aaaaaand now, coming in at 2 feet, 4 inches, weighing 18 pounds and 13 ounces, give it up for Luuuuuuuuke Miiiiiiiiiiisraaaaaaaa!
Luke had his 9 month appointment and he's doing great! His height is close to the 75th percentile and his weight is around the 25th percentile. So we'll just have a tall and skinny boy. Rather, he's as skinny as any baby with a big belly can be. Other things our pediatrician told us: 1) he's allowed to eat anything besides honey, so we don't have to avoid things like milk, eggs and nuts. 2) It's okay for him to play independently, as long as he's happy. 3) Baby websites are a little useless - one website said at 9 months we should be able to ask him what sound a cow makes and he should say 'moo'. Yeah, right....
Luke hit some important play-related milestones this week. He climbed his first mountain, aka his playpen laid down flat. He got up there all by himself! Getting down, however, was a little more challenging to say the least. He also learned to love going in the swing. Look at that cute chubby smile! He totally looks like Amit in that picture doesn't he? The first time he went on the swing he was freaked out by the motion, but once Amit started tickling him and giving him high fives when he came close changed his mind.
In case anyone forgot over the past year, we still have a bunny. His name's Durandal. Lives in a cage. Been neglected for a long time - but no longer! Now that life has 'normalized' and Luke has shown a very strong interest in Durandal and banging on his cage, we decided to let the little creature out. So every morning, Amit directs the Boys' Club. What do they do from the 7-9am? First rule about Boys' Club - don't ask about Boys' Club. Second rule - Be Gentle. Third rule - why do you keep reaching for the shredder? Durandal, stop chewing on my laptop. Luke, how did you get on the balcony? Why is this so hard?
Anyways, Durandal also has a new hay box! It's just an old tissue box, but we put hay in it. Conveniently Durandal just barely fits in it. So he sits in his food. Note: we do not plan on implementing this method with Luke. Regardless of how tempting it is.
