| Our family at the beach! |
We're finally home for a Sunday! It feels like it's been forever but our travels are concluded and we are back in Seattle for at least a few months.
Bear Lake was pretty much just like it always is: lounging around reading books, going out on the water, Amit working on his paper, getting attacked by exotic animals. Last year it was rattlesnakes, this year was spiders in the room.
Some fun memories from the lake - Amit enjoyed kayaking like he does every year. This year he did 2.5 miles one day in a little over an hour. "I can totally kayak across the lake next year," he says. "I'm totally not ready for him to kayak across the lake," Marinda says.
Marinda had fun reading Eragon, watching Steven play xbox (Batman is
awesome), and mostly just hung out with people and talked. Luke was the real social butterfly. Everyone just wanted to hold him all the time. Amit and Marinda never had to ask twice.
Our nephew and niece (John and Mary) were actually the people we spent the most time with. John had this puzzle he loved playing with. He'd go up to the shelf it was on and say "Puzzle? Please? Puzzle? Please!" So we would dutifully take it down and play with him. And when he was done he'd say "Again? Please?" Of course, him saying 'please' sounds a lot more like 'peez' which just makes it more adorable. Mary is walking around and we liked looking at her make funny and cute faces all the time. She's also starting to talk, saying words here and there. What was really funny was that she taught us all that the proper way to eat dinner is with one foot on the table. Oh, and the dogs under the table always need a sampling of whatever is being served.
Amit also taught John a few cool things. You know those pool noodle things? Amit discovered that you could use them as telephone-type things to talk through, which he taught John. John thought it was so funny. Amit also taught John to rock in the rocking chair. He told him it was like a swing, so for a little bit John would sit in the chair and rock back and forth saying 'swing'. How cute!
Luke has also made some new leaps and bounds! He now makes a funny little sound where he goes "Aw-Ooo!" like a little wolf. He also played with a toy for the first time! On the car ride home Marinda gave Luke his rattle ball just for kicks, and he played with it! It was amazing! We can't wait to see what he will do next!
