Happy week 14 (almost)! Marinda is still feeling miserable but she is getting more food down. As in, more than 0. So progress? The past couple pregnancies she's gotten better around 14 weeks, so hopefully things take a turn for the better. The highlights of her life this week were getting midline (instead of a picc line) for her IVs. The first time they tried it, Marinda's arm filled up with fluid (apparently it's called 'infiltration') and they had to take it out. She says it hurts. A LOT. The next arm worked out okay. Which is good, considering she only has two arms.
She has also been watching a lot of the The Great British Bake-Off. Why? Because she can't eat anything, so we guess this fills some void that she has. Amit's problem is that when Marinda makes him sit with her, it just makes him hungry.
We had big surprise this week - codeapillar came! Oh, and I guess grandma and grandpa were here for a bit too, but everyone loves codeapillar! For those of you who don't know, codeapillar is a programming toy. You build codeapillar with different segments that have codeapillar do a different action like go straight, turn left, turn right, or make music and flash lights.
When Amit told the kids about codeapillar, Luke was excited and said that he was going to make codeapillar do all his jobs (chores) for him. We tried explaining that he had a great idea but that codaepillar isn't quite that advanced, but he wasn't hearing it.
Then the day finally came - codeapillar arrived! Luke loves playing with it, and Jacy loves it. No really, when Jacy plays with codeapillar, she comforts codeapillar when it crashes saying "it's okay codeapillar, I'm right here, I've got you" and petting codeapillar saying "my codeapillar so cute!" Luke has finally started understanding how to use it to solve simple mazes and patterns that we set up for him.
Grandma and grandpa also came for a quick visit since grandpa had an interview in the area. Unfortunately for them, with Marinda being sick they were immediately pressed into childcare. But they seemed to have fun spending time with their grandkids and hanging out with us at night.
Other funny kid stories:
•Jacy and Luke went to Liam and Darcy's house for a playdate. Apparently the boys decided to go "attack" the girls like little boys over the world for generations have done. And like little girls all over the world have done when their older brothers bother them, Jacy and Darcy cried and got upset. Or not. It looks like all this PJ Masks is starting to get to Jacy's head.
•Luke brought down some board games Saturday morning and started teaching Jacy how to play! Apparently he was somewhat upset that Jacy wasn't following the rules, but we're still super-proud of him for playing with his sister.
•Luke has started getting into his racing game and Jacy loves watching him and wants to play too. So we give her a controller without batteries and she thinks she's participating!
•We got a pretty good ultrasound of the baby!
•Luke was watching the old school Bill Nye and wanted to do one of the science experiments with water. He started getting down bowls and filling them with water but it was clear that we didn't have exactly what we needed to do it. Amit told Luke to stop because he wouldn't be able to do the experiment, and Luke got upset. His reply was "dad, why don't you want me to be a scientist?"
To finish up, Jacy has a message for you and the new baby!
