Bunk Bed!

The big thing this week is that we got a bunk bed! Luke has been due for a big boy bed for a while, so we knew we needed to get him a new bed. We spent a lot of time looking at full-size beds because his toddler bed converts to a full-size headboard and footboard, and we also looked at twin-sized bed, but finally on Friday we went to Ikea to buy something, and there they were - the bunk beds! We hadn't been thinking about but it was love at first sight. At least for Luke. So we bought the bunk bed and it was delivered the next day. Luke was big a helper in putting the bed together. Look at him holding this up so Amit wouldn't have to position a stuffed animal just right.

And once it was done, he loved it! And Jacy loved it too! She climbed up into the 'book corner' as soon as she saw it and was having a blast walking around. And the best thing? That night, Luke actually said "Put me to bed first! Don't put Jacy to bed!" Jaw. Drop.

They both love it! What a picture perfect moment!
In other events, Marinda had her first Activity Days event and she hosted book club for the very first time! Marinda has been really nervous about this new calling for reasons we don't need to get into here, but she had a great activity planned for the girls and the two girls that showed up had a great time. And book club was a huuuuge success. Marinda made a 5 course snack menu with the theme of preschool food. So she had mac and cheese bites, wings (step up from chicken nuggets), dirt cups with gummy worms in them, ants on a log, and creamery chocolate milk.

Amit is starting his first day of work in his new office tomorrow. The new office is 1.3 miles away, so the commute will be super-quick.  Part of this is Amit getting a scooter that arrived this week!  Not a motorized scooter, just a grown up, awesome version of a kids two wheeler.  Luke is beside himself that he and Daddy can go on scooter rides together.

Luke stories:
•Dinosaurs live in the forest - after Luke's nap on Sunday (after church) he was completely out of it. During his sleepy ramblings, he said "I don't think the dinosaurs all died. I think they're living in the forest and hiding from us."
Luke found a stick and wanted to carry it with him. Shocker!
Ok, the full story is ten feet into the forest he stopped dead and wanted to go back.  Why?
Because of the dinosaurs of course!  So Marinda suggested getting a stick to defend himself,
then he was fine.
It's great because you can hardly tell you're in the middle of a city

•Luke's not scared of swim lessons anymore! We're not sure what happened, but all of a sudden a switch flipped and he's okay with going on his back.

Jacy stories:

•Jacy is walking!...at least more than she was before. She can easily take 10 or so steps now, but the only problem is that once she starts walking, by the time we can get our phones out to get it on camera, she stops walking! Maybe we'll capture the elusive "Walking Jacy" next week for the blog. Here's a sample of failed attempts to get her walking:

•In case you weren't aware, Jacy is huge now. She is officially as long as her changing table mattress!

•This is just a cute video of Amit trying to get a video of Jacy playing peak-a-boo in a giant box. Which, of course, she stopped doing as soon as the camera turned on. Come on, Jacy, this is no way to get that acting gig that will let daddy retire at 30!

•Last but not least, Luke is learning how to be a very helpful and encouraging big brother! Whenever Jacy starts standing or walking a little he shouts "She's standing! Look!" or "She's walking!" and gets really excited. He also is a big supporter of Jacy practicing walking with her walker.
