Happy Mother's Day! And Jacy's Walking!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! Marinda was treated to sleeping in, Hawaiian bread french toast with cream cheese and blueberries, a wonderful, amazing card from Luke and not having to write the blog up today :)
Front of Luke's card he made at preschool using the 'paper smoothie' they made!
Inside of the card. His teachers wrote it (obviously), but the message was what he wanted them to write.
The big news for this week is that Jacy's walking! For real this time. Not like before when she was taking a few steps here and there. Last week she was doing maybe 10 steps at a time, but every time Amit tried to capture it on video she fell down before he could get his phone out. But this week she's walking enough (and Amit is prepared enough) that we caught her on camera multiple times.

This weekend we went to the zoo. The weather was perfect, it wasn't too crowded, and we all had a great time. The interesting thing about this time at the zoo is that Luke was really interested in the little African village by the giraffes and hippos. He just loved going into the mock houses. We didn't get pictures of him on the bed, but thought it was so funny that there was a bed made out of wooden logs.

Yeah, this is the best picture we got of the two of them in there.

Jacy stories:
•Jacy's hair is pretty awesome. Especially right after bath time.
Post-bath hair.
•This week Jacy got into the garbage so we finally had to move our garbage and recycling cans up higher.  What we mean by this is Marinda heard this "thunking"noise, and when she went to investigate Jacy was putting magnates from the fridge and cans in the garbage! Developmentally, it's great - she sees us putting things in there so she wants to too. Sanity-wise, not so great.
•Sometimes Luke crawls around in circles when he's being silly. Looks like Jacy thinks it's fun too!

•Jacy went to gymnastics this week! We had extra made-up classes from going to Cleveland so we decided to let Jacy have a shot during mommy-baby gymnastics. Unfortunately, Jacy just clung to Marinda the entire time and barely did any of the activities. It's okay though - Marinda felt completely loved by her baby, so she got her Mother's Day present from Jacy.

Luke stories:
•Luke is soooooo ready for his big boy bike. Marinda has been getting him on bike rides with his Strider bike every couple days and he has gotten a lot better at riding. He's doing a great job kicking a few times before bringing his feet up and balancing. He's even going so fast that we can barely keep up with him when we're walking!
•On Monday we had the missionaries over for dinner and Amit asked Luke if he could help clean up. Amazingly, Luke helped vacuum up all the crumbs by his chair!

Look at that great little cleaner!
•Luke did really great at swim lessons this week! Normally he doesn't like jumping in the water or going on his back (he really doesn't like that). But this week he was like a completely different swimmer, jumping in and going on his back without any trouble, even volunteering to go on his back first!
•Luke gets himself dressed pretty much every day, and he doesn't quite get that you don't have to button all the buttons on a collared shirt. But hey, this is Seattle, so he should fit right in.
Luke doing his best Seattle hipster impression. All we need is the glasses!
•Luke is really into rhyming. His new favorite game is doing a countdown (or count-up) when one of us says a number (like 'One'), another person says a word that rhymes with the number ('Fun!') and the third person shouts 'No!' and we all laugh because of how silly the rhyme sounds. Okay, so maybe it's mostly Luke laughing. But it's still a fun game for all of us.
•Luke got an amazing tractor book from the library this week. The best part is that he saw this tank/tractor in the book and immediately said to Marinda: "Mommy. You need to come see this."  He then told her that this tractor was "The Beast" because it's all black and beasts are all black.

Amit and Marinda stories
•I know, I know. You're either thinking "What is this section?", or you've already closed your browser because you got what you came for - stories about the kids. But we did cool stuff this week! For example, the Copa America is taking a tour of the US in preparation for the competition in June. And it just happened to make a stop in Amit's new building on Microsoft campus. So he was able to get his picture with the trophy that the US Men's National Team will be holding next month (we can hope, right?)

•Continuing with the soccer+Microsoft theme, we went to a Sounder's game Saturday night. Amit's org had a raffle for Sounder's ticket and he won! So we got a babysitter (and Jacy did not throw up on them this time!), took the bus over the CLink, and had a blast at the same. Marinda had fun talking to other people going to the game on the bus, because that's what Marinda does. The game was pretty good, mostly because the Sounders won 2-0 :) Marinda was actually only minimally embarrassing this time around, as opposed to the game they went to 7 years ago when Marinda would shout "Gogogogogoogogogogogo!" every time a Sounders player touched the ball, or "Get him get him get him get him!" every time the other time touched the ball. This time she was (gasp) somewhat reserved.

Thanks for the fun night and the great seats, Bill Gates!
