Jacy's Birthday Present - Daday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACY!  Yup, our little girl is one month old today and she is still soooo cute!  She has completely chubbed out this week and has a very respectable double chin now.  At her appointment on Thursday she was weighing in at 8lb 2 oz, which is what Luke weighed when he was born.  Way to go little girl!  We also moved her into her own room this week - and everyone is sleeping better.  She is just sooo noisy while she sleeps!  But it is cute noises... because she is so stink'n cute.  If you were to ask her what she thinks of this whole being alive thing we have a feeling that her answers would be something along the lines of "Eating is AWESOME," "this whole coughing thing stinks - I didn't have to deal with this when I was inside Mommy," and finally "OOOO!  A BRIGHT LIGHT!"

Happy Birthday Jacy!

This is also a big step for Marinda and Amit, because they have officially survived having two kids for one whole month!  Their assessment: It is easier than the first one because you already know what you're doing for the most part.  It is harder because now there is two of them and it is harder to give individual attention.  There were a couple of times where Jacy would be asleep while Marinda was feeding Luke lunch, and then she would get him down and then Jacy would wake up and decided to be awake for the next two hours so Marinda couldn't get a nap... and then would trade off with Luke again.  Or they would both be melting down at the same time...  So there has been a new learning curve.
Silly Girl!  She's going to have so much personality!

Nature Walk around Larson Lake
Luke loved seeing all the wildlife - like the turtles on that log!
But of course, his favorite was the rocks...
Look at that piercing stare...
And Luke - declaring that he's a baby too :)
Marinda has also officially stopped breastfeeding this week.  She is one of the lucky females that whenever she breastfeeds her dopamine levels drop through the floor, making her completely out of it for a couple of hours.  She is sad because she isn't able to continue, but like everyone keeps telling her, being able to emotionally feed her children is more important than the slight benefits breastfeeding will give her daughter.  So remember, citizens of the world, be nice to the mom feeding with a bottle, because she might have been forced to use it because of circumstances outside her control and is currently having self-esteem issues from the intense pro-breastfeeding propaganda going on right now.

Marinda's Mom took this picture to remind her of what really matters in being a good mother.
This week Amit's older brother Anup came to visit! It was his first time in Seattle, which gave us an excuse to go do a bunch of touristy stuff we wouldn't normally do. On Friday we went to the Space Needle. We talk about the Space Needle a lot at home with Luke because it's in a lot of his books and we drive past it every so often. So we thought he'd be super excited to go in the Space Needle. But then - toddler hood happened! He saw the monorail and even though we told him we'd go on the monorail after the Space Needle, he kept saying "I don't want to go to the Space Needle. I want to ride the monorail!" After a couple meltdowns we got to the top, Luke got a hot chocolate and then everyone was happy. (By the way, Jacy just slept the entire time during all this. Good job girl!)

The top of the Space Needle was great. The weather was perfect, not a cloud in the sky. We had a great view of Mount Rainier. Luke loved looking through the telescopes...except that he wasn't able to get his eye lined up right to look through it normally so he decided to look through it backwards.   After that we went on the much anticipated monorail ride, and Luke was sooooooo excited!  It was about a five minute ride to the mall downtown, and then we just got right back on and took it back to the Space Needle.  It was short, but in our professional parents of a toddler opinion it was worth it.
Fist bumps and hot chocolate on top of the world!

On the Monorail!

The next day we continued being touristy and wandered around UW for a bit.  It was another beautiful day, and Luke only ran away, like, fifty times!  We did dinner at Boom in University Village, went to Molly Moons for dessert, and drove by our old apartment - because Marinda really wanted to show Anup where we use to live.

Side Note: Have anyone else noticed that the best ice cream places start with an "M"?  Molly Moons, Menchie's, Mitchell's Ice Cream, Marianne's...  The only exception we can think of is UDF - which has the BEST hot fudge in the world!
Luke didn't care about the library, but he thought this sculpture was pretty cool
Molly Moons!  Ice cream is always the best way to win a toddler's heart.
The next night he caught a plane to head back to boring old New York City.  It was great having him come and visit us!

Anup hanging out with his niece - They're so cute!
Thanks for visiting us!
