Go Seahawks!

Hello Fans!

This was an exciting and sad week for us at the Heb's main office in Seattle.  You see, today was the Super Bowl - and we were all really excited to see the Seahawks win again!  We weren't the only ones.  Seattle is lit up brighter than Christmas with blue and green lights.  Skyscrapers spell out giant "12" on the side of their buildings with office lights.  Schools had official "Wear Seahawks Stuff" spirit days.  Amit said the fountains in downtown Bellevue were even dyed Seahawks blue.  And of course there are jerseys - EVERYWHERE!  Marinda even got into it.  She had a baby shower this last Friday (yup!  Another one!  We're going on one a week right now - I mean, 9 of us are pregnant!) and it was a cheesecake bar (BEST IDEA EVER) and nail party, but for some reason everyone was painting their nails blue and green.  :P

So we got our dip, made some hot wings and watched the game!  Even Luke got into it by spontaneously going crazy shouting "GO SEAHAWKS!"

But all this excitement was for nothing!  Because at the last second we lost!  We didn't really say anything, though Marinda was heard muttering later about how stupid sports were.

We'll get over it, eventually.  In the end, it's been fun living in a city that got to go to the Super Bowl and experience how sports can really pull complete strangers together.

Amit's work is going well for those of you who are still interested in how Amit is adjusting.  He's been there about a month now and his team just finished their first project of the year - complete with a "group paper."  You know, those things that you did in college that were such terrible ideas?  Well guess what, you still do them in the real world!  Something kind of fun though is that Amit's manager thought he wrote his section so well that he told Amit that he was the best writer on the team.  See?  Writing that thesis was good for something!  What came out of this (other than bragging rights for Marinda) was that Amit (you know, the new guy) was chosen to write the executive summary - which is the only part the VPs will probably even read.  Oh yeah!  Go Amit!

And just as a side note, he finally finished going through the last steps of HR and we officially have benefits!  Now Marinda can stop being bugged every doctor's appointment for not having insurance yet!  WOOO!!!

Marinda was also busy this week.  We needed to turn in our keys to our old apartment on Tuesday, so Marinda had to go in on Monday to finish things up.  The thing is, that she has been kind of sick (SHOCKER!  Marinda?!?  Sick!?!) so we prayed our heads off that she would somehow have the strength to finish everything that needed to be done.  And guess what?!?  She did!  She worked all Monday finishing up the few things that were left (Amit had already done most of it) and Monday afternoon she locked the door on our little apartment in Family Housing for the last time.

In other Marinda news, she had her last iron IV at the hospital this week.  It was uneventful like usual (which is a good thing) but there was one fun little incident.  The nurse that took care of her was also pregnant and had the same due date!  It was her first, and they had fun chatting it up while she got a new hole shoved into her arm.

So that is the update on Marinda and Amit, but what about LUKE?!?  The whole reason you read this blog!?!?

Well, Saturday was an exciting day for him.  Amit and Marinda decided to take him to see Amit's office!  So they hopped on the bus that Amit rides to work (which is an exciting adventure in and of itself) and went downtown.  Then UP to the 22nd floor where Amit's office is!  On a clear day he can see the Space Needle all the way in Seattle, but today it was foggy so instead we felt like a castle in the clouds.  (ok, that's just romancifying the fact that we couldn't see anything.)

I found the bus stop!
This was way too exciting to look at the camera!
Yup.  We're a Microsoft family now.
Amit's office is really nice, with it's own door and everything!  Marinda has already given him flack for not being so excited about the fact that right out of school he has his own office WITH A DOOR.  Clearly he didn't read enough Dilbert growing up.  Luke had fun sitting at his desk and even found a stress ball Hippo that he decided would be much happier at home with him than in Daddy's office.

They made him a welcome sign just like Luke's Daycare used to do!
Luke at work, making some very important executive decision.
Like that the phone really needs to have all its buttons pushed.
Next was the grand tour of the break room, complete with complimentary hot chocolate and chocolate milk - though Luke was way more interested in the ping pong table and the bowling set.  Then they went up to the cafeteria to see where Daddy eats lunch and then to the top floor, where they went outside for a bit.  Man they were high up!

Awesome break room Daddy!
"Someday, son, you will learn all about the Cloud..."
After that they headed home again on the bus.  Though their outing was fun, it was not without consequences.  Specifically, Marinda's body responded negatively to all the walking (SHOCKER!) and she got painful leg cramps in both legs all the way from her hips to her feet for the rest of the weekend.  Marinda just wanted to be cool and try and think of another way to become bedridden.  Because she is cool like that.  :)

For cute Luke stories we have the following eye witness accounts:
- When Marinda got home from the Microsoft adventure, she crashed on the bed and fell asleep almost immediately, but not before Luke came in, crawled on the bed, gave her a kiss on the cheek and said "Now you have your kiss.  Have a good nap Mommy!"
- Luke is getting really good with his Elephant Alphabet puzzle, he can recognize and name about 80% of the letters when we ask him to find them.
- With Marinda having such a rough time, Luke's been getting more screen time than normal.  But not all of it is junk TV, some of it is educational!  As some of you know, Marinda binge watches Korean Drama's every couple of months and lately Luke's been watching "Korean Movie" with her.  Her reasoning?  He's being exposed to foreign languages!  (yeah, Marinda knows she's a bad mom, we're just joking here.)
- Luke is really getting excited about the new baby coming!  At least we'd like to think so.  One of his new favorite games (other than run away from Mommy and act insane) is to wrap Marshmallow up like a baby and then "play baby" where he walks around saying "I'm holding my baby!"
- Marinda wasn't feeling good after the three of them went grocery shopping and she went into the bedroom to lie down.  Amit and Luke came in to check on her, and Luke told her in a very medical authoritative voice that she needed to "Eat something because it will make you feel better!"
