The biggest news from this week has to be, without a doubt, Luke's potty training. Let's not go into details, but Marinda decided to give the three day method another try this week - and it STUCK! She got some car/truck/vehicle stickers and taped a sheet of paper up on the wall, and Luke only had two accidents on Monday, then one on Tuesday, and then hasn't had an accident since! Not only that, but he doesn't need a chip anymore for sitting on the potty, doesn't even tell Marinda when he needs to go and just goes on his own (Marinda needs to help him get his underwear back on) and get this - he is waking up in the middle of the night to go potty! We didn't even TALK to him about this let alone showed him, he's just been doing it by himself. Sometimes he'll get us, sometimes we'll wake up to him banging around in the bathroom moving his potty stool into place.
A couple of months ago the Economist's cover was a picture of a toilet and the question "will we ever invent anything as useful ever again?" Well, will Amit and Marinda ever teach Luke anything so useful as going potty?
Marinda was busy this week recovering from her weird legs being broken thing and getting ready for Kamie Bushman's baby shower that she was co-hosting! It sure felt like she didn't have that much to do, but then Kate and Ashely were saying the same thing. That's the problem with working with nice people, no one takes any credit. :) Anyways, she made a cute little banner for over the food, bought some grapes and made some
broccoli salad that was apparently a huge hit! Marinda was just happy to be able to help out celebrating her friend and her soon-to-arrive little boy!

On Friday, Marinda and Luke trekked over the bridge again to go to Marinda's doctor's appointment. Jacy is doing great, as usual, and *drumroll* SHE GAINED 5 POUNDS! Before some of you think "wow, five pounds in two weeks - what a fat-so" remember that she is supposed to gain 15-20 pounds to be healthy this pregnancy and in the past seven months she had only managed to gain 6 pounds. So this is AWESOME! Marinda's doctor even gave her a fist bump when she saw the numbers. So now Marinda is off the "ice cream" diet, but will still need to keep eating.
After that we headed over for playgroup where Luke made a Valentine mailbox for our fun Valentine's Day party next week. One guess as to what type of stickers his is covered in... stay tuned for next week for exciting pictures of Luke hitting on girls! Hopefully they won't cry this year...
Saturday was a busy morning for us. We hopped in the car and drove all over the place looking for furniture for our new house. Ultimately we ended up at Target buying bookshelves and a desk for Marinda because none of the thrift stores had anything - but hey, we tried! It wasn't a complete failure though - Marinda found some more cute shoes for Jacy, and all Amit did was roll his eyes because they only coast $1-3! Newborns
totally need New Balance shoes! Maybe with our new furniture we can start putting things together and emptying boxes. Maybe our home will eventually stop looking like a war zone.

Helping Daddy build the bookcase! He is WAY too fascinated by tools, we need to get him a toy set before he puts a hole in the wall! |
That night we headed over the bridge again, but this time as a family. We know, you just THINK we moved out! This time it was for Laila's birthday party! It was a blast with adorable decorations, delicious food, good friends and even a piñata! Though Marinda was thinking the whole time "I wonder when Luke is going to start hitting things saying 'I play piñata!'" There were also blown up balloons all over the floor - which we have discovered is Luke's new favorite thing. We even got to take two home, and they have become our newest winner for "cost of toy/hours of play" ratio! The cutest moment, though, was when we arrived and Luke gave Laila some flowers we had gotten for her birthday. He held them just right and handed them to her while saying "Happy Birthday Laila!" Yeah, TOO CUTE!

Luke-isms from this week:
- Luke has been going crazy all week because it has been raining - and the only indoor play area in Bellevue is in Bellevue square downtown. We know... it is annoying. So Luke has been trying to get his energy out, and one way is to do somersaults all over the house! He's been doing somersaults for a while, but this week it seemed like he was doing them as much as he was walking!
- Other ways he's been getting out energy is once Daddy comes home, he puts on a pair of Mommy's fuzzy socks and he and Daddy go "ice skating." The bedrooms have wood floors, which make for a fun, slippery surface and he and Amit have fun running back and forth and sliding.
