The Freedom To Eat Corn on the Cob!

OMP!
He literally ate three cobs all on his own!
Happy Fourth of July!!!!!!!!!

Luke began this morning by exercising his freedom to wake up at 4am!  Let freedom ring!  (just like Luke's voice over the baby monitor.)

Our first real celebratory event of the day was going to the Flag raising and pancake breakfast at the church.  However, Marinda slept in and Amit was too out of it to realize the time, so we ended up arriving late, but there was still plenty of pancakes.  Amit opted to stay home and get some sleep.  Because we live in a country where we have the freedom to take naps.

Marinda and Luke had a great breakfast.  Marinda left Luke at their seat with all their friends while she ran to get some food, and miraculously Luke was still sitting in the exact chair she had left him in!  What a good boy!

Marinda then took Luke on a walk to the store to get some food for the BBQ they were going to have tonight.  While they were walking Marinda tried to tell Luke all about how it was America's Birthday.  He'll figure it out eventually.

That night we had a great time with our friends the Bushman's, Houston's and Staple's.  Marinda had attempted a new recipe for chicken skewers based off a really yummy chicken tikka masala she had found.  It turned out ok, but all the other food was really good.  We were actually really surprised by how much Luke loved the corn on the cob.  He kept asking for more and more and ate them clean each time.  We didn't even know that he could eat corn on the cob!

Picnic with cute girls!
Luke playing with Emma and Tessa.
Yup, this pretty much how these three play together
Luke wanted his picture taken!
And I will now exercise my freedom to DANCE!
What a crazy bunch of kids,
oh, and toddlers!
Later that night, like, 10pm later, we took Luke to see the fireworks!  One of the awesome things about Seattle in the summer time is that it stays light until 10pm at night!  One of the bad things about Seattle in the summer time is that is stays light until 10pm at night...  We went to the top of a parking garage near campus and had a fun time watching the Lake Union Firework Show.  Luke did...  ok.  He started melting down by the end, but at the second coming when he gets all his memories back he'll be glad that we made this one for him.  In spite of how tired he was, he did get something out of it because for the next two days he kept telling us about "Firework!  Boom Boom!  Fall Down!"  You know, in between telling us about the fence and horsies and Tessa....

So excited to see the fireworks!
If Luke was going to be in a cop drama this would be his dramatic moody shot
This is a VERY accurate picture of how tired Luke was by the end of the firework show
Luke's been very cute lately.  He will tell us about how a tree that we see has fallen over (even it is still standing) and will randomly start singing songs or reciting his books.  We're also glad to report that his separation anxiety is over, so no more crying in the middle of the night needing to see both Amit and Marinda to calm down enough to fall asleep.  Luke has also learned all about first aid.  Whenever he gets hurt now he'll shove whatever body part was injured in our faces and demand "Kiss Better!"  He did have his first encounter in alcohol this week to clean a cut - and it did not go over well.

LUKE'S FIRST PICTURE!
He grabbed the camera and actually managed to take a picture
For those of you interested in the undead, Amit's illness has cleared up, and now we're just waiting for his skin to do the same.  This week his hands literally looked like he was wearing gloves made of dead skin, with a few flacked sections were you could see the healthy skin underneath.  EEEeeeewwwwwww........  But we still love him!

80 year old zombi hand!
On Saturday we went for a walk in the woods in near by Ravenna Park.  It was so fun!  We taught Luke about ferns and moss and we even found a stream!  Luke thought it was the funnest thing ever.  Marinda was just glad to get him out in nature for a little - even if he seemed way more interested in the bus' we saw on our walk over there.

My perfect grecian statue baby!
Look at those curls!
Luke and Daddy riding turtles!  Giddy up!
"Give said the little stream!"
Luke loved the bridges!
