This week we had a scare when we (read: Amit) almost lost Amit's wedding ring! After church on Sunday we put Luke down for a nap and Amit said in a fairly nonchalant way "I think I lost my wedding ring." He figured it was somewhere in Luke's room so neither of us worried about it...until Luke woke up from his nap and we couldn't find the ring! Cue mass texting and facebooking while searching. We even recruited some professional finders with expertise in finding small things in hard to reach places (i.e. Luke). When we asked him to help he went into his nursery. A few minutes later we heard him say "Daddy ring!" and we ran into his room all excited! But when asked Luke where Daddy's ring was he picked up his pacifier like he had hit the jackpot and handed it to Amit with a huge smile on his face. Amit gave up hope early on, but Marinda was determined to find the ring! She decided to do a second search of the car. When she came back, Amit said "no luck?" And then Marinda was down on one knee presenting the ring to him! Apparently it had somehow flown off Amit's finger while he was unbuckling Luke in his carseat when they got home and landed in the other car seat (one of our friend's that we haven't gotten back to them- we don't have a secret baby or anything). Yay Marinda! We're going to the jeweler tomorrow to get it resized... Silly Amit and getting super skinny and everything. (note: that last sentence was written by Marinda)
Luke's swim lessons this week were more of a lesson in relaxation. His lessons are during his normal nap time, and after last weeks interesting sleeping (or not sleeping) schedule we decided that we would just keep him up until afterwards. What this means is that he was really tired during his swim lesson, and it wasn't kicking and screaming tired, it was "plop *pokepoke* is he alive?" tired. We used these foam board things for them to float on to get use to floating on their backs, and Luke just plopped on it and looked up at the ceiling like he was on cruise ship! I was really tempted to get him a drink and magazine!
Luke has had a busy week as always. His new accomplishment is that he can actually say his name now! Luke is a pretty hard name for a toddler to say, but now instead of saying "kook" he says "luke" pretty well. Interestingly enough, he also seems to have learned Amit's name. One day while pretending to talk on a phone, he said "Hi Amit," apparently because he hears Marinda saying this a lot! At least he hasn't started calling Amit by name to his face yet. His other language skills are coming along pretty well too. He uses a lot of two and three-word sentences (most of them revolving around things he's eating or what his trains are doing).

This week was particularly hard on Luke. On Thursday he got sick, so instead of going to school he and Marinda had a sick day. We cuddled on the couch and watched Daniel Tiger while eating crackers. Then he just played a little and took the longest nap ever. Nice and chill, but Marinda definitely missed her break day, especially since she had four lessons that day. He's feeling much better now!

Super Helpful Boy!
Luke has become very concerned about things breaking,
so when our towel rack fell for the 5732nd time
he grabbed the screwdriver and tried to fix it like he's seen Daddy do! |

Marinda wasn't feeling well Friday morning, so she took Luke with her to Jamba Juice.
She asked if they could just make a smoothie with banana, peanut butter and milk,
and it turned out great! Luke didn't take his mouth off the straw until his cup was empty. |
Luke is a pretty good toddler, and one reason for that is that he comes up with games to entertain himself. One of his favorites is a game where he pretends to sleep. He gets on the couch and lies down and says "sleeping!" Depending on how tired he is he'll stay down for a second or maybe half a minute pretending to be asleep. Then he pops up with a big smile on his face! He also loves throwing things, and has a cannon of an arm too. We don't have a speed gun, but he estimate he can probably throw his little piggy ball 2000 mph. When pigs fly indeed.

Last night the Misra family made an appearance at a book launch party for local author Katherine Kirkpatrick. You see, we are just really well connected - and she is one of Marinda's students or something. It was the first time either one of us had been to a book launch, and it was really interesting listening to how she researched and pulled this book together. It is called
Between Two Worlds and we are really excited for her. It was also good inspiration for Marinda's novel writing ambitions.
Side Note: Toddler's are awful in bookstores. Luke was running around like crazy and wanting to pull off
every single book he could get his hands on. Next time we'll remember to get a babysitter.
Marinda and Luke went to the zoo this week, which isn't that revolutionary with the weather getting warmer, but what was revolutionary was that we went on his 22 month birthday! Yeah, yeah, not that exciting of a milestone, but when Marinda casually mentioned it to the lady at the gate, she busted out a "It's my BIRTHDAY!" pin that is good for one
free carousal ride! How cool is that?!?! We're saving it for when Amit can come with us, but it made the sunshine a little more.
