Heat wave! That's what we had this week. It got up to 87 degrees!! Before you scoff, remember that Seattle is generally moderately humid and no one has air conditioning. We don't have ceiling fans any more either. But the nice thing about hot weather is that Luke gets to wear preppy shorts now! Enjoy the summer catalog of Luke by Macy's/Abercrombie and Fitch/Men's Wearhouse.

To go with the heat, Luke was all over his swim lessons this week! He practically jumped in the water and Marinda had to jump herself to catch him. She hardly had to say anything to get him to kick his legs behind him, and when asked to blow bubbles he showed off like a pro! But all these accomplishments must have worn him out. He decided that after 15 minutes he was all done - which he communicated by saying "No! All Done!" over and over for the last 15 minutes of the lesson.... Not really throwing a fit, but being quite annoyed at Marinda for not promptly obeying his wishes.
On Friday we had a BBQ with some friends. We were hoping to take advantage of the sunshine, but of course it had to start raining once the weekend started. We had a great time anyways though, and Luke and his little friends didn't seem to mind the rain at all. They all wanted to go outside and push a toy stroller around. During dinner the three kiddos sat at a table together and we saw them trying to feed each other food. How cute!
On the verbal communication front, Marinda walked into the kitchen today while Luke was eating breakfast, and without saying anything Luke said "Mommy's Pretty!" Guess who was the happiest mommy in the world? Marinda taught Luke about where Amit goes every day. Now when you ask him where daddy is, Luke will say "Work!" And then if you ask him what daddy does at work Luke will say "Science!" Luke also said his first gramatically correct sentence! While reading "Best Mouse Cookie" he said "he's sharing a cookie" for the page where mouse if giving his friend a cookie. Go Luke!
On Saturday we decided to eat out as a family. Marinda wanted it to be a celebration of something, so we concluded that we were celebrating the beginning of May or something like that. But really we just wanted to try something new. We went to Elemental Pizza in the mall nearby and had a great time! We got a stromboli and a pesto pizza to split and Luke got some amazing pesto grilled cheese. They also gave him some dough to play with. Luke had a great time watching the chefs spin the pizza dough. He kept saying "pizza!" over and over again while watching them. When we left we packed up the leftovers in a box and he got really upset crying out "pizza!" Even that night when we helped him with his personal prayer and told him to say thank you for pizza, he remembered his lost pizza and shouted "pizza!" I think Luke likes pizza.
