Everyday Should Be Thinking Day!

This past week we got to see Luke again, and this time he was actually cooperative and posed for the camera!  We got another ultrasound as part of our study and this was a best one yet.  We even got the cool 3-D ultrasounds that we would never be able to afford on our own.  We saw Luke sucking his thumb and even got 3-D pictures of him sucking on his fingers!  "It was incredible," Marinda said afterwards, "he was acting like a baby instead of an humanoid blob!"  Now we basically know what his face looks like.  Isn't that exciting?

Best picture of Luke's face.  It looks kinda weird, but remember this is going through skin, placenta and a bunch of fluid.  He has a mouth!  And a nose!  And eyes!  And at least one ear!

Luke sucking on his fingers. AAAWWWwww.....
That same day was Amit's last class.  He spent his last lecture talking about exoplanets and looking for life on other planets (outside the solar system).  FYI, his course website can be found here.  After the class he got generally positive reviews from his students.  Some asked if he was teaching another class, and one person even said while leaving "You need to make sure you don't spend all your time doing research.  Someone like you needs to be teaching too!"

This past weekend we were separated from one another.  Marinda went down to California for Girl Scout Thinking Day.  Her mother was in charge of it so she was there to help out and enjoy the event.  For those who don't know Girl Scouts was founded in 1912, making this year the 100 year anniversary.  So this Thinking Day was a special one.  And Marinda's old service unit does it right, with a cultural show where each troop presents about a different country.  And on top of just being awesome in general, this year between girls and parents there were between 500 and 600 people there!  Needless to say Marinda's Mom was VERY happy all her girls were there to help.  :)

It is kind of amazing what happens to Marinda if you shove her in a room full of girl scouts that need to be directed - she becomes Super Program Aid!  "I seriously felt like I was back in high school trying to get people where they needed to be - minus the giant tummy."  She also loved being able to see and hang out with her family, even if it was for a weekend.  And when she wasn't being super girl scout-y, she was eating cookies while people would come over and give her presents for Luke.  "Cookies, Girl Scouts, Presents, and some great company - I would say it was quite one productive weekend!"

What was Amit doing without his better half?  The things anybody would do if their spouse was out of town: donate blood and eat out.  Chipotle and chinese food, what more could a guy ask for?

Tune in next week for the report on the couple's exciting adventures in the Land of Cleves!
