Last night was an amazing experience for our family. The Prophet, President Russel M. Nelson, came to Seattle along with his wife and President Henry B. Eyring and spoke at Safeco Stadium to 49,089 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - and we got to be there!
We left Asher with the neighbors across the street, and with our friends Elery and Carl Walsh headed over to Seattle. It was a harrowing experience getting there, with random streets blocked off and then so many people crowding around the stadium that at one point we sat at a cop directed light for ten minutes. We thought we had left with enough to time, but all these things together kind of freaked us out about being late. You see, we had gotten one of the few parking passes (as soon as Amit saw that they had them on the Facebook page Marinda immediately texted asking for one - which was great because in just a few hours they were all gone) and the pass said that we needed to be in the garage at 5:15. Well, we were still at that awful light when 5:15 came around, so we said a pray that they would still let us in. When we pulled into the garage about ten minutes later Luke said, "See daddy! Heavenly Father answered our prayer!" It was a sweet experience for him and we said a prayer of gratitude once we were parked. Going along with that, we were supposed to be in our seats at 5:30, but at 5:39 we were still waiting for the elevator. We needn't have worried, literally 30 seconds after we took our seats the Prophet walked in!
Memories:
-The kids were actually pretty good for it, with Luke watching the big screen (at the end he said it was so boring, because there was nothing to do except watch the TV) and Jacy eating her snacks (with random moments of turning into an invertebrate and flopping onto Amit).
-It was slightly dangerous because of projectile board books from the kids above us.
-At one point we saw a dad walking below with his toddler, rocking him and trying to help sooth/distract him. I pointed out to Amit that that was the quintessential image of a Mormon dad, and he said "Must be a new dad, he's wearing a suit coat! Doesn't he know that spit up has to be dry cleaned?!"
-Luke waved to the jumbotron when he saw President Nelson and President Eyring waving to the camera!
-Jacy also was cute, she kept asking "where's Nelson?" (as in President Nelson). We kept telling her he'd speak later since we couldn't really see him from where we were sitting. When President Nelson got up to speak we pointed him out on the jumbotron and Jacy got sad and said "but where is he REALLY?" We pointed to him on the field and she got excited and started dancing around singing "Nelson's HERE! Nelson's HERE!"
-We were also grateful that Sister Nelson was wearing a bright magenta jacket so we could know where the prophet was from across the stadium.
-The kids fell asleep in the car on the way home, so we just put them to bed in their church clothes - so we didn't have to worry about getting them dressed for church today! We should do this every week!
-When we went to pick up Asher from the neighbors, the 14 year old who babysits for us was holding him, because he apparently was the one who rocked him to sleep! It was ridiculously cute.
As for the spiritual memories, I don't think Amit and I will ever forget the feeling we had seeing the Prophet.

Memories:
-This week was Jacy's first week of preschool! She had no problems going in and was totally like "Mom who?"
-This was also Marinda's first week of flying solo, with Amit going back to work. How did it go? Let's just say that Marinda was ready to pass out and go to bed by 7pm every night.
-We were watching old testament scripture videos over breakfast, and it was the story of the ten plagues of Egypt. When it talked about the last one where the oldest sons in the families would die unless there was the blood of a lamb on the door, I pointed out that Luke is the oldest son in the family. Then Luke asked "Why don't we get a lamb cage outside to keep lambs in? Then we would be ready if this happens again." Later on when they were talking about when the Israelites made an idol of a golden calf, Luke said "I want a beautiful statue of animals, but it wouldn't be an idol. I would get a statue of Jesus and paint it gold and then Jesus would be so happy!"
-Yesterday was also Luke's first soccer game! The season has begun!
-Asher had his 2 month appointment this week and is 11 pounds 14 oz! He also got an oral vaccine (which he didn't dribble out at all!) and THREE shots! Jacy was adorable and insisted on holding his hand during them.
