Chess, Sounders, and Science Puppy!

Jacy said she had a pet named Tigery. She kept talking about how Tigery was in the back yard, and how he and Catch (the Komodo Dragon) were friends. Then she said, "yeah, he's a lion. A lion named Tigery." Tigery also sleeps on the wall. Maybe because we play a game where our phones reflect a light onto the ceiling or wall and it's a "tiger"? We're not sure where she got the idea from, but it was super-cute!

Today in church they had an impromptu choir, so Amit went up. Luke had been reading the words from the hymnbook and singing along earlier, so we thought he would go up, but he decided not to. But then Jacy ran up with Amit. She didn't sing, but afterwards (even during sacrament meeting) she was humming "We thank thee God for a prophet" to herself (that was the song they sang). Later in the car, she hummed it again, and when she was done she asked "did you like my beautiful song?" Then she surprised us by saying "we sang that song in the stadium" because we had sung that song at Safeco Field when we saw President Nelson the other week! When did she get this kind of memory?

Luke went to his first Sounders game on Saturday! Mrainda took him for a Mommy-Luke date. He had a great time, but afterwards when asked if he liked the game more or the bus ride more (Seattle parking is a pain, but for a game it's revolting, so they parked at a park-n-ride and bused it in) he said he liked the bus ride best!  When we got there we had to do a lot of walking to get to our seats, and Luke said "Mom!  We're going to miss the whole game!  All we're doing is WALKING!"  When they got there their were people standing up in front of their seats and Luke couldn't see, so they moved a few rows up into some empty seats.  It was a great idea, except for the fact that their new seats were right under the eve for the box seats above - which wouldn't have been a big deal until someone up there spilled their beer.  It didn't get on them too bad and Marinda didn't let it ruin the game, and actually thought it was kind of funny that they were going to come home smelling of beer, but instantly they had twenty friends who were ready to extract violence on who ever spilled their beer on this poor mom and her son who were just trying to see the game.  That being said, Luke and Marinda loved watching the game and Marinda pointed out all the soccer moves and when the Sounders scored Marinda told Luke that he could yell as loud as he wanted, which he did and still didn't make a dent in the screaming around us!  All this was great, but we also have a feeling that they fact that the SOUNDERS WON 4-0 helped him love the game even more!

Luke got his first Karate belt this week! Now that he's been going for a couple weeks and has shown he can obey the Sensei, he was allowed to get his white belt! He did a great job listening and was even the first one to volunteer to show off the kata they're learning. He only knows some of it, but he was so brave to volunteer to show everyone what he knew.

Luke also set up a science station, with Jacy as Science Puppy (as opposed to Baby Puppy). He even explained how sound works, which isn't something we've taught him.

Science Puppy in action!

"It's not the end of the world Jacy" this is what Luke told Jacy in the car today.

Luke got really into chess all of a sudden today. So Amit taught him the basics and they started playing today! He is getting the hang of what each piece does (he's confused why the knight can't take out pieces on it's path) and is starting to think strategically.

The kids have been really into watching the 'baking show' (Great British Bake-off) and the 'gardening show' (Love Your Garden). So much so that we can effectively bribe the kids to do things by saying "if you finish your morning stuff we can watch some of the gardening show before school..." and it works!
The kids watching the gardening show together!

And now for some picture of Asher smiling!
