Zoo Camp

This week was super busy...or should we say zooper busy! Luke had zoo camp (and doctor's and dentist's appointments, and a couple other things) every day this week. So someone had to take Luke over to Seattle every afternoon. Thankfully Jejemaa was here to help!

On the first day of zoo camp, we all went to the zoo so that Jacy wouldn't feel left out. Luke was so excited to go to zoo camp that he wanted us to set a timer for him in the morning so we'd know when he'd be able to leave. That's pretty normal. What wasn't normal is that he asked us to set a timer that he could look at 2 hours before we had to leave. Yeah, he was pretty excited. After we dropped off Luke we took Jacy around the zoo and she got to be the star of the show! She loved seeing the butterfly exhibit and could've stayed there for hours. It helped that beforehand she was talking about butterflies throughout the morning. Jacy also got her face painted! This was Jejemaa's treat to her.

Jacy was told to close her eyes for the first part of paint

The finished product! She seems pretty happy about it

Later we went to a zoo show. Jacy and Amit sat in the front and got to get up close to the animals. The porcupine in the show didn't feel like doing his normal routine and instead came out in by the audience!

Luke had a great time at zoo camp, and even got a spiffy new shirt!
This is the postcard version of Luke in front of the zoo sign.

This was one of the ones that didn't turn out so well

The rest of the week was zoo camp, zoo camp, other appointments for Luke, and more zoo camp. Good thing Asher's such an easy baby otherwise this week would not have gone well. On Tuesday Luke had a doctor's appointment at UW so he and Amit had a daddy-Luke date where they went to get lunch at the Rainforst Pavilion in the zoo. Then Luke played at the playground in the temperate forest. Luke seemed to like zoo camp, but every night his sad thing was that it was too hot, since it was near 90 every afternoon. On Friday, the two of us took Jacy and Asher to the zoo after dropping off Luke, and getting lunch at the zoo yet again per Luke's request. Luke was very insistent that he and mommy needed to get hot dogs together at the zoo. Marinda hung out with Asher after lunch while Amit and Jacy went and looked at animals. Funny story - the first thing Jacy did when it was just her and Amit was touch some bird poop (or something similar) on the ground and get her hands covered in brown gunk. After rushing back into the zoo to wash her hands, Amit instituted a "no touching things on the ground!" rule for the rest of the trip. What a perfect way to start a 3 hours zoo trip with a 3 year old!
Luke was really proud of himself that he was able to climb up onto this tree branch

Luke feel asleep on the car ride home on Tuesday. When Amit asked him about it later, Luke said it was only because we had left so late at night from the zoo. Right...

We got to see a lion. And she was awake!

We got to see the rhinos too!

Other stories:
*Yes, Asher is still around even though we didn't have any very remarkable stories about him. But check out his outfit for church that he wore today and this video of him doing tummy time!

*Asher has also started grabbing and pulling his hair. Everyone loves his hair, and he loves touching it, but he gets so upset when he grabs and pulls it.
*Jacy re-discovered the bead toys that we have and was having fun playing make-believe with them. I'm not sure what was funnier, watching her play with this the first time or watching her watching herself in the video later on. She cracked up when she saw her saying that the beads were going in the garbage!

*Luke and Jacy are both getting more interested in Asher now that he's more interactive. Luke actually will want to look at him and hold him now, and Jacy plays with him now more than ever. The other day Asher was "poking" her over and over again.
*Despite her thinking that Asher hitting was funny, one time this week Asher "hit" Jacy and she got really upset and started crying.
