14.5 Hours to Blueberry Cobbler!

We begin this week with an ending - that of Bear Lake.  Well, not really the END of Bear Lake, we're pretty sure it is still there, but at least of our trip.  We had one last awesome day on the beach, complete with a morning that threatened of rain and no less then ten people warning us that "it looks like it is going to rain."  Yeah there was lightening across the lake, but as Amit put it "I can grab Jacy and run up and into the cabin faster than Grandma Mitchell can get up from her chair and walk into the house."  :P

The weather cleared up that afternoon and we had fun with the kids and Brian and Layne who came up for the day!  The best game was a bunch of kids (including the beach beauty Jacy) and one decrepit, old man (Layne) with the rest of us circling them as some sort of crazy shark people trying to grab them.  It'll be the next summer blockbuster!

That night we packed up, and at 6:30am the next morning pulled out to start home.  And low and behold, the kids were amazing!  Divine intervention?  Or just A LOT of Curious George?  We made really good time, and pulled into our drive way 14.5 hours later.  Funny story, Jacy actually started loosing it ten minutes from home.  Like, we were ALMOST there and then she loses it?!  Yeah, don't worry, we're counting our blessings.

We were about an hour in and we turned around and Jacy was GONE!!!!
Seriously, these two just loved Curious George!
We're pretty sure if you go back and watch Steve Jobs presentation of the iPad
he said "This will not only revolutionize the world,
but most importantly will revolutionize ROAD TRIPS WITH KIDS!!!"
*the crowd went wild*
At one point Luke asked for the phone because he wanted to take pictures.
This a sampling of the literally HUNDREDS of pictures he took.
About 150 of these.  He just really likes his haircut.
It's a metaphor - if you have to ask then you're beyond understanding it.
Hey!  He actually got a good one of Amit!
And caught in the act!  Don't you dare take off that shoe!
This shot is deep.
Or he was trying to figure out how to take a picture and didn't realize it was pointing at him.
He has about a hundred of these ones - because the movie was so good it needed to be documented!
About two hundred of these ones.
He pretty much documented minute by minute what the countryside looked like....
Because the kids were soooooo amazing, they got ice cream for dinner!
Yeah, this isn't a bad idea at all!
*note how there isn't an after picture*
And when we got to our house, the kids had quite a surprise because it wasn't empty.  AUNT CAITLIN IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!  Yup!  Marinda's best friend from growing up graduated with her double master's degree and took a job over in Issaquah, which is awesome because now we get to see her more than once a year, but to make it even better her job started three weeks before her apartment was ready for her to move in, so she gets to live with us for three whole weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

If that wasn't enough, this week for playgroup was blueberry picking!  There is a farm really close but we had never gone.  It was really fun and the kids did a great job looking for the ones that were BLUE - not green.  Jacy was so cute calling them "blue blues!"  And what did we do with our new hoard?  Make blueberry cobbler of course!  Oh my goodness, it was AMAZING!  THIS RECIPE is the best one EVER!!!!

Lost in the jungle.
Well, everyone keeps saying he looks like Mogli!
Jacy helped for a few minutes, then spent the rest of the time playing with gravel and climbing things.
Behold our yummy wealth!
Baking our reward!
After that we went to eat lunch with Daddy at Microsoft, and once again the kids got to see what Amit does at work all day - Foosball!  It was also good because Marinda got to get all the awards and gifts that Amit keeps getting and forgetting to bring home, including this beautiful candle valance for his work on SIDS.

Putting all that grad school to good use!
We're glad to be home - hope you all had a fun week!  Hope you enjoyed the pictures!!!

Because we live somewhere cool, we went to the park and there was this dance group performing!
