Guess who finally turned 30? Amit did! Amit request an ice cream cake, so Marinda and Luke made the cake during the day while Amit was at work. Amit had specifically requested a cake without too much actual cake and a lot of ice cream, and he also likes oreos (honestly, who doesn't?), so they made a cake with a little bit of cake on the top and bottom and lots of oreos and ice cream! Luke was clearly the mastermind and did all the work since we only have pictures of him making the cake and not Marinda :P
After cake we got a babysitter and for the kids and went to a trendy restaurant in Bellevue called Black Bottle, which does shared plates (think appetizers only). It was really good, and Marinda had fun looking at the design and examining all the hipster-like aspects. Her favorite quote of the night is that is hipster is "industrial lumberjack".
Luke stories:
•Luke is getting a lot better at playing video games! He's been playing Lego Star Wars on our Xbox and is finally getting the hang of things. Check out the video for proof! And by the way, he looooves playing. Every time we tell him it's time to stop he has a mini-meltdown, which is actually starting to become a problem. He even went to sleep with his xbox controller the other night! Yeah, maybe we should cut back a little bit...
•Luke really loves his fire truck ornament that he got for Christmas!
Jacy stories:
•Jacy has always loved "singing", but now she can sort of put words to her songs! We will randomly start singing "All Creatures of our God and King" at home, and Jacy really likes the "Alleluia" part. And the crazy thing is that she's starting to sing it now too!
•Jacy's foot got smashed in the car door the other day, and she was super-sad. Marinda asked her if she wanted to watch the '"fishies movie" (National Geographic Really Wild Animals Deep Sea Dive - thanks grandma!) while eating a snack. All of a sudden, she went from wailing and gnashing of teeth to just sort of sad and saying "Yesh". Marinda was a good mommy and propped her feet up so it would get all better. And then a miracle happened! Halfway through the movie she ate all her goldfish she got up and walked over to Amit to ask for more goldfish. Her foot was all better!
Luke and Jacy stories:
•You may be aware that Luke and Jacy's Christmas present to Marinda was a movie night - Thomas Christmas movie, fuzzy blanket, and a chocolate bar. On Saturday we finally got around to doing our family movie night. Here's the three of them cozy on the couch, except for Jacy, who's apparently leaving a spot for Amit
•Luke created a sled from a bin and a rope, and he decided it would be fun to drag Jacy around in it!
•One night for dinner someone (Marinda) thought it would be funny to use green beans to pretend we're walruses. The next night we had leftover green beans and Jacy put them in her mouth like walrus tusks, so we got to be walruses all over again!
To finish off, here's a picture of us on a nice pleasant evening after dinner. What a studious family! And apparently lots of pictures of us on the family room couch this week. We guess it was just one of those weeks!
