Going sledding (sort of)

Jacys obsession with puzzles

Our big adventure this week was going to the Cedar River watershed education center by Rattlesnake Lake! We figured that it would be better to go do something fun than just going shopping. We had never been there before but it looked like something that would be fun that we could do outside with the kids. And we definitely weren't disappointed!

The education center has pneumatic air tubes that move small balls around the mimc the water system. Honestly, the kids just loved putting the balls in and watching them go, even if they didn't really get the connection toe the water system. Then we we went out to the deck and they were just so excited to see ice and snow!
Luke loved learning about the water cycle!

So excited to see some real snow!

Afterwards we went on a short walk around Rattlesnake Lake. The ground was covered in snow and ice so Luke kept slipping and sliding (it didn't help that he seemed to want to fall over). Jacy demanded to be held after falling the first time. Things were going fine until we came to the point where we had to cut across to another trail to get back to the education center. The trail went down a slope and would have been fine, except that the bottom was completely iced over! Luke was brave and went first, and had to slide down on his bum half the way. Marinda slid down after him, and told Amit to take Jacy back the other way because it wasn't safe. But Luke and Jacy threw fits and being separated, so Amit took Jacy down the path. Walking down was definitely not an option, so he put Jacy on his lap and they slid down the whole way. And the best part is we got a video! Look at how adventurous our family is :P

At the top, ready to descend

Luke was excited to learn there was a stream and a waterfall that was frozen on top but had water flowing underneath the ice

Luke stories:
•Luke is doing so great at swim lessons! If you remember from a few months ago, he was really scared of even going in the water. Now, he's jumping into the deep end on his own (with his teacher waiting to catch him of course) and even swimming on his own without any help for a few strokes at a time. Check out this video of him being amazing this week!

•Luke finally finished his alphabet sticker pictures! He's been doing these for a long time and this week he finished off the alphabet! Marinda went to a "mommy meeting" (anything she goes to at night by herself) and Luke told Amit "let's surprise mommy by finishing the sticker pictures!". So he did!
He did it!

Jacy stories:
•Jacy ate a cupcake at playgroup! When Amit first saw this picture he asked if it was dirt or chocolate. Like Marinda would ever let her child have sugar...
Chocolate, dirt, or fake beard? You decide!

•Jacy's jedi training has begun.
No Jacy, you hold the other end of the lightsaber!

Luke and Jacy stories:
•Speaking of Star Wars, Dadai got the kids Star Wars books for Christmas. Here they are reading together on the couch! Now they love reading and Star Wars - win win!

•The kids at a Starbucks break! See you next week!
