Luke has always been a good little boy and usually quite a gentleman when it comes to girls, but something changed this week. On Monday Marinda had a doctor's appointment and left Luke with a friend who also had a little toddler named Emma. During playdates they had always seemed to get along fine - but some how in the hour Marinda was gone Luke and Emma got into, like, six fist fights, including one where Luke sat on her head. That night Luke wandered around the house saying over and over again "Go Fight With Emma!" Where did we go wrong!
This Thursday we packed up our bags to head to Idaho for our yearly family reunion at Bear Lake. Luke was SO excited, he even believed us when we told him that they wouldn't let us get on the airplane until all his toys were put away. Then the poor little boy tried to move the 45 pound suitcase by himself and it fell on him, giving him a big bruse on his leg!
This was a monumental airplane flight, because it was the first time we had to pay for Luke's seat - and honestly we didn't mind at all. He is just way too big to sit on our laps! When we got into Utah, Amit and Marinda officially became adults and got their first rental car. It is an SUV, because we were taking up Marinda's sister Jana, her husband Ben and their dog Yumi along with them.
They had a little time before Jana and Ben flew in, so they headed to Temple Square to let Luke run around for a bit. Trust us, it was greatly needed. Luke went crazy, and less than an hour later we headed back to the airport to get the Californians.
Four hours, one Cafe Rilo, one Walmart, and two states later we pulled into the cabin and proceeded to crash. Marinda and Amit got to sleep in Mom and Dad's room, and discovered that having Luke crawl up into bed with them isn't that bad when it is a California King!

Luke LOVED the fountains!
(I know, shocker) |
The next two days was just a party playing down at the water. Luke LOVED splashing in the water and playing in the mud - and, of course, eating the mud... On Saturday night, after the kids were in bed, all the adults played Apple's to Apple's and ate cotton candy made from Jana and Ben's extra rock candy from their wedding. The last round was particularly funny - the adjective was "violent" and someone put in the card "Family Reunions."

Today we went to church over in St. Charles, and now we know why we always went to Dingle. By the time Sacrament Meeting started there was standing room only - the chapel, the gym, the foyer and all the classrooms were full of people. Someone told us that on the 4th of July weekend there were 1,400 people! Marinda's anxiety actually flared up because it was so crowded, so they left after the sacrament and went on a drive until Marinda started feeling better. It was on the ride that Luke said his first 10 word sentence: "Mommy and Daddy drive the four wheeler on the beach!" He's kind of become obsessed with four wheelers - that morning the first thing he said half awake was "I drive the four wheeler..."
After church, Steven showed up, so before Ben and Jacque left we got a family picture. We miss you Ashleigh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyone is looking up! And yes, we had to give Luke a chip in order to get him to sit still.... |
