Ok all you Luke fans out there, this entry is going to be JUST ABOUT MARINDA AND AMIT!
Yup! Because this week was Marinda and Amit's FOURTH anniversary, and instead of just going out to dinner, Mom and Dad Mitchell took them to Canada!
The parental figures are going on an awesome Alaskan Cruise that sets sail from Vancover on our anniversary, so they figured they would drag us along for an awesome adventure. Luke was left at the Housten's for the night, and we hit the road!

When we stopped for gas Marinda and Amit found this 100 fl. oz. bottle!
It was so ridiculous we had to get a picture! |
The first stop on our adventure was Grouse Moutain (goose mountain), a huge mountain (1610 meters) that you can take a gondala to the top. You can walk up it if you want too... and if you hate life. Just kidding, there were these insane runners that would run up it for fun and they didn't look like they had deep seeded issues.
Anyway! From the top the view was incredible and we enjoyed our bagged lunches looking out at the great blue yonder. Then we wandered around a bit, and watched the paraglider sail down the mountain side. Maybe next time we go we'll take the zip line!

| Up the hill! Up the hill! |
 |
Don't worry, it's a small crack.
You totally won't fall to your doom.... |
 |
| A cute couple we met that day |
 |
| Wow! |
 |
| You can see Mom Mitchell in the blue shirt above the "UO" in the reflection! |
 |
| At the top of the world! |
 |
| Oh yeah! We're totally cool! |
 |
| Wait! Is that a vampire?!?! |
From there we checked into our super fancy Fremont hotel that is right on the water across from where the cruise boats will be taking off. When Marinda and Amit mentioned that it was their anniversary the check in people got all excited and gave us a coupon to two free glasses of champain at the bar! Woo! The view from our room was amazing, and we could even see Mom and Dad's boat!
After that we spent the afternoon exploring Vancover. We went down to the historic "Steam Town" where there is this steam powered clock and lots of cute little torest traps shops that Marinda and her Mom love to browse.

| The Steam Clock! |
Marinda got a bit tired and we took a "short cut" back to the hotel. We ended up seeing the rougher side of Vancover, over by the tracks and through some abandonded parks. At one point we were walking across a feild and Marinda noticed that a guy was following them. So she thought fast and started asking Amit in a loud voice how basic training was going. Amit was super confused at first, but Marinda kept pushing on, and the guy ended up going another direction. Oh yeah, Marinda totally saved their lives from the random guy who was going to mug them! Not everyone (like no one else) believed that they were actually in any danger, but that was just because Marinda saved them! :P
After that we got dolled up and Marinda's parents took everyone out to this super fancy resturant for dinner. It was delicious, and this time the walk back to the hotel was along the beautiful water front. Vancover really is a beautiful city.
The next morning Amit and Marinda struck out on their own, and Amit took Marinda to this cute little cafe for an Anniversary Brunch. It was perfect and delicious and a great way to start of year five of being married!

| Here's to four more years of eating good food together! |
After that we spent a couple of hours wandering around Stanly Park, then it was off to the Cruise Boat to send off Mom and Dad. Marinda was more than a little jealous but we were also eager to get home to see our little boy!

| Dramatic Amit - the dark side no one knows... |
 |
| And there's the guy we all know and love |
Ok ok ok, we know that you will all stop supporting our fine blog if we don't give you some Luke stories.
Yesterday we went to the zoo. We got there nice and early because well, Luke is up at 6am anyways. It was raining, which meant that the zoo wasn't crowded at all and some of the animals were actually active because it wasn't super hot. We started off by going to see the gorillas, who were just hanging out and not too much fun. Then we walked by the spot where Luke saw the peacock the last time he went to the zoo and he started saying "see the peacock!" We didn't actually see a peacock all day, but ask Luke how the zoo was and that inevitably comes up every time. We saw a hippo out of the water and briefly watched the giraffes eat breakfast. The two highlights of the day were the tapir and the elephant. When we got to the tapir, Amit mentioned it might be an anteater, so from then on Luke kept calling it an antelope. After gently correcting him multiple times he finally said 'It's not an antelopte. It's a tapir!' Good job Luke! The tapir was eating and saying hi with its big long nose! The elephant was being really silly. He must've been tired, because he did a big yawn and then started lying down like he was going to take a nap. Then he rolled around on his back. What a playful elephant!

| The problem with the zoo is that all the pictures are of your kids backs. :P |
 |
| We hope you enjoy your week as much as Luke is enjoying his corn! |
