Thanksgiving and 5 months!

Happy Thanksgiving dedicated reader(s)! This week are reporting in from Ohio where we are visiting Amit's family for Thanksgiving. We obviously have much to be grateful for this year, especially because of our dear little Luke, who also turned 5 months old the day after Thanksgiving. Time is going by so quickly!

We left for Cleveland on Monday, leaving Durandal behind to guard the house while we were gone. We were a little worried about flying, but everything went fine. Luke did great on the flight and made a lot of new friends/fans. On the first leg of our trip we were sitting across the aisle from a real newborn, only 8 weeks old. It reminded us of just how much Luke has grown up!

Our week here has been pretty laid back. Amit works on his laptop most of the day but takes plenty of breaks to take care of and play with Luke.  Marinda gets to lounge around (also while taking care of Luke), and Luke gets fawned over by his Jejema, Jejebapa and Dadai. Luke's actually had the busiest week of all of us. Normally he just has two people playing with him and in reality, he has a lot of time to play quietly by himself. Not so when we're in Cleveland. I don't think he's had more than a minute without having someones face take up more than half his field of view.

Thanksgiving at the Misra's is very traditional - Anup does the Turkey, and mom with everyone else's help does mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, rolls, and spinach lasagna, just like the pilgrim's did. Marinda does a family tradition from her side, sweet potato balls. For dessert we have (of course) pumpkin pie. "Amit's family does Thanksgiving way more traditionally than I did growing up," Marinda said. "Probably because my family gets their traditions from Utah and his family gets theirs from a Norman Rockwell painting."
Thanksgiving at the Misras...sort of
That turkey is as big as Luke!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Friday was Luke's 5 month birthday! We didn't really celebrate, but Luke's Jejema and Dadai braved the Black Friday crowds at Toys'R'Us to buy him 5 gifts. Earlier in the week, Luke had just stared at Anup - no smiles, no crying, just staring. "It was because Anup hadn't bought Luke any presents," said Jejebapa, Amit's dad. Did Anup's gifts convince Luke to forgive and forget? Only time will tell...

FYI, Luke is still perfect. When he gets really tired, he starts getting punch drunk and slap happy. He laughs at anything, even Amit pulling the comforter over his face. What baby gets adorably laughy when they get tired? Tune in next week as we make sure Luke is actually not a robot baby.
