Lullabies

Exciting news!  We fixed the setting so everyone can add a comment!  So tell us how much you love The Heb!

Amit and Marinda have a unique talent for writing songs.  So we thought we would include some of their creations, not only to document these little tunes but also to show off.  :P

On the day Luke was born, Amit thought up this little one using the tune from Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.

We just met you
And this is crazy!
But we're your parents
and you're our baby!

I know, SUPER clever, but we liked it a lot while we were in the hospital.  :)

Here are a few that Amit wrote (and one Marinda wrote):

Precious Child - Amit

Close your eyes.
And go to sleep.
Precious child,
my heart to keep

Close your eyes,
Lay down your head.
It is time,
to go to bed.

Softly, Calmly, Gently, Sweetly - Amit (this is our secret weapon at nap time.  It works)

Softly speaks the whispering wind,
Calmly sways the sea.
Gently roll the verdant hills,
Sweetly just for me.

(Chorus)
Softly, calmly, gently, sweetly,
Sing me off to sleep.
Softly, calmly, gently, sweetly,
Father sings to me.

Softly falls the Winter snow,
Calmly Spring the leaves,
Gently as a Summer's day,
Sweetly Fall's for me.

(Chorus)

Softly as His tender touch,
Calmly is His gaze.
Gently His endearing words,
Sweetly are His ways.

(Chorus)

It's Time - Amit (this is his nighttime song)

I wash my face, I brush my teeth,
It's time to go to bed.
I get on my knees, I say my prayers,
It's time to go to bed.
And Mommy and Daddy will sing to me,
And I'll be as happy as can be.
I'll get in my crib and they'll tuck me in.
And then I'll say again!

But you've washed your face, you've brushed your teeth,
It's time to go to bed.
You get on your knees, you said your prayers,
It's time to go to bed.
And Mommy and Daddy we sang to you,
Don't say a word 'cause you knows it's true.
You got in your crib and we tucked you in,
So now it's time for bed.

Diaper Song - Amit (Luke loves this song even though it's cheesy.  This song is how we got him to smile during his photo shoot a couple weeks ago)

My little Luku on the changin' pad,
Gettin' his diaper changed by his dad.
My little Luku, he's so sweet.
He's the one baby you gotta meet.

My little Luku on the changin' pad,
Gettin' his diaper changed by his dad.
My little Luku made such as mess!
But I still think he's the very best.

Pat, pat, pat, pat Luku dry.
He's a good baby so he won't cry.
Pat, pat, pat, pat Luku dry.
He's the best baby and that's not a lie.

My little Luku on the changin' pad,
Just got his diaper changed by his dad.
My little Luku, he's lean and mean.
And now thanks to daddy he's alllllll clean!

Gift - Marinda

You're safe,
You're warm,
You have a home.
Plenty of food,
And arms that hold.
Now close your eyes,
And feel of my love,
For you are my precious gift from above.

Good Morning - Amit (this one is not the cleverest, but it's fun)
Good morning,
Good morning,
I've given you your warning,
Now it's time for <attack with kisses>!

So what happened this week?  Grandma Mitchell came to deliver a harp - yes, another one!  Some of Marinda's students are too small to play her big harp, and one of them actually offered to help pay to transport Marinda's smaller harp from California to Seattle.  So Grandma and Uncle Steven drove up the harp for a quick road trip arriving on Thursday.  While Uncle Steven left Friday morning, Grandma stuck around and did all sorts of fun stuff, like going to the Married Student Forum on Friday.  It was a really great event and we had a fantastic turnout - at least 20 couples came!

Grandma had some surprises for Luke, like this AWESOME Halloween bib!

On Saturday we went to the King Tut exhibit at Pacific Science Center.  This is the last time it's going to be in North America, so we wanted to make sure Luke had a chance to see it! Not really, but it was a lot of fun.  We paired off, boys in one group and girls in another group. Amit had already been to Egypt, as Marinda likes to point out often, but he still enjoyed seeing the exhibit.  "I went a little bit faster than the other two," Amit said.  "Something about having to constantly move so Luke wouldn't cry for most of it."  "I really liked looking at the detail of the artifacts," Marinda said.  "It was great!  It was better than being in Egypt."  Luke also got some great compliments.  "Two people independently came up to me in the gift shop and asked me 'is this cute little boy for sale?'" Amit said.

Playing with the mirrors at the PSC

WOO!  We're going to see old stuff!

So cute with Grandma!

The line was outside, in the cold, so we tried to wrap Luke up a little.
He loved looking out at everything and even protested when Marinda got in the way!

We got the audio guide and had fun listening to that one egyptian guy that Grandma said was important.

If you like the lullabies let us know!  Enjoy the random pictures and videos below:
The sun came out on Tuesday, so Marinda and Luke spent four hours outside soaking it up!

There!  Proof that he is grabbing his feet now!  He just won't go to sleep on his own,
we try and put him down but he just ends up playing with his toes.

So Happy that Grandma was able to come and visit!

  1. You two make DREAMY parents! Moms are the best, aren't they? I'm glad you had fun. I still feel bad that we never made it to Matthews Beach that day.
