Today was the first day we could feel the baby move! And not just Marinda, Amit felt it too. It's super active considering we're only at 15 weeks!
Super funny story alert! Wednesday night we had pasta with sausage in it. Luke loves sausage, so he's always eating it first and then asking for more. Because we don't have an unlimited supply of sausage we've started telling him he needs to eat more pasta and then he might find sausage hiding under it (it does happen every once in a while...) Anyways, so he was eating his pasta and he decided to look under it to find more sausage. As he's did this, he said "What's under here?" Upon seeing no sausage, he exclaimed "Aw man! I want more sausage please!" Marinda and Amit proceeded to chock to death from laughing too hard. We're not sure where he learned to say "aw man!" but we've been trying to recreate it so we can get it on video.
Yesterday was a busy day. We had the Fall Fiesta, an event hosted by the UW family housing. They had all sorts of cool stuff - a petting zoo, bouncy house, and balloon animals. First we tried getting him to the bouncy house, since we had told him all about it beforehand, but instead what does he do? He goes and finds the bulldozer and dump truck on the playground and plays with that. We eventually got him to the petting zoo, and he seemed to be happy. There was a turkey, a wallaby, a chicken, a sheep, a goat, and a lot of bunnies and hamsters. With all these new and exotic animals, guess what Luke said he wanted to hold? Yup, the bunny. After a few minutes of that, he said he wanted to go and look at the truck and the trailer, as in, the truck and the trailer that brought the animals. Oh well, we tried! He did really love the Lion balloon animal Marinda got for him, though. He brought it home and almost instantly declared that it was "Aslan's mommy" (he has a little Lion stuffed animal who's named Aslan). Hopefully Aslan's mommy survives more than a couple days - Luke wanted to have it during his nap time. I don't think he quite understands what's going to happen if he applies too much pressure...hopefully he doesn't have to find out quite yet!
The biggest draw at the Fall Fiesta, apparently
Look at all the cool animals!
Look reluctantly petting an animal
Look at that fuzzy little bunny
The second biggest attraction at the Fall Fiesta - a truck and trailer!
Yesterday evening we went to a friend's farewell party at Golden Gardens (the beach), and it was a fun time. Luke of course went crazy with all the sand - we're pretty sure there is literally nothing he loves more than playing in the sand. We had a good time visiting with people too, but what was really cool was the thunderstorm! All day the weather report was all over the place as to whether it would rain or not, and it did - just about a mile or two to the south of us. So we got to watch this thunderstorm while munching on hot dogs around a bon fire.
"Oh yeah, I can do this. I'm going to empty out the entire ocean with this bucket. Before bedtime"
"Actually, I got distracted by a bulldozer."
This week was also pretty monuments for Amit - it was the opening game for his intermural football game! Marinda and Luke went to cheer him on, and Luke did such a great job sitting on Marinda's lap! The cookies she was feeding him might have helped... They unfortunately lost, but they were playing against undergrads that were about 10 years younger than him and his teammates. It was pretty funny some of the names we were coming up with afterwards for the team: like "The TA's" or "FYI We Grade Your Papers" or Marinda's favorite simply "The Dads." Something about the toddler's and pregnant women on the sidelines. We were so proud of our Daddy!
In other funny Luke stories: Amit got him dressed in a turtle neck and told him what it was called, and then brought him out to Marinda. When Amit asked him what he was wearing, he proudly said "A Dinosaur Neck!"
Marinda health-wise was still pretty icky this week, and yes she did go and get another IV this week. At one point Luke decided that Marinda wasn't eating enough, so he went up to Marinda on the couch and proceeded to shove a cracker into her mouth. But I guess she wasn't eating it fast enough, because he proceeded to grab her nose and force her mouth open and shoved two more crackers into it. What a conscientious little boy!
