Two lovers...separated by leagues. A boy, and his one true love. The thing that he just can't live without - but he must - for what seems an eternity. The nights are the hardest, sleeping alone with the reassurance of familiarity. They say you can hear his cries through the night, ever longing, "my car, my car."
Luke loves cars. And he hates being apart from cars. And it's especially hard when Amit has to take care of a toddler while his car is away in California for Marinda's little brother's open house. You see, Marinda went to CA for Ben and Jacque's open house, leaving Luke with Amit for a variety of reasons. Dad keeping on eye on the toddler for 5 days? What's the worst that could happen?
It ended up being fine actually. Amit found time to get food on the table while working full-time and Luke wasn't all that bad. And they had lots of fun too! While Marinda was gone Luke was like a completely new baby. Here are just a few major changes:
-Luke now likes eating salsa straight. It's only medium, but still, that's pretty good spice tolerance
-Luke learned to say "spicy" (see above)
-he started asking for pepper on everything
-Luke rode the bus for the first time as a toddler
-significant improvement in puzzles
-being able to talk on the phone
And we're probably missing a bunch of stuff. Basically, Amit got an A plus. And he even had to speak on church that Sunday. Talk about a trooper!
What was Marinda up to? You know, pedicures, dress shopping, decorating, going to the movies, sleeping in. But it wasn't all sunshine and roses - she was really missing her boys. You see, the car incident didn't mean to happen, Marinda just happened to forget that Luke's little toy car was still in her purse. It was so silly - Marinda was moping around like she was dating. You know, constantly texting wanting to know what he was up to, playing with small tokens from him (the stolen car), and thinking/talking about him so much that her Mom was getting sick of it. :)
Anyways, Marinda worked her face off with her Mom getting ready for the California Open House, so even if Amit and Luke had come it wasn't like they would have seen much of her anyways. The Open House its self went off perfectly, complete with people even dancing! And yes, it was at the Scotts Valley Hilton - like all Mitchell large events now. Which, you know, started with a pretty cool couple and their wedding reception...
Yay for Ben and Jacque!
