Memorial Day + Myst

On Memorial Day we decorated graves in the morning.  We went to a nearby cemetery to honor those who have done so much for us.  It was a very humbling experience.  Growing up, it was always sad for Marinda to see so many soldier's graves without flowers - so imagine her surprise when most of the graves were already decorated!  It was also Amit's first time decorating graves.  "I feel like they should have a service announcement over the radio or something," he said when asked about his experience,  "I don't think most people know that you're suppose to do this on Memorial Day."  Consider this your service announcement!

After that Marinda insisted that we do some sort of barbeque.  Because there's no better way to remember fallen soldiers and the freedoms we enjoy than exercising our right to grill up some burgers, right?

Tuesday morning was fun.  We had a doctor's appointment in the morning that we assumed was at 9:50, our normal appointment time.  Little did we know that the appointment was really at 9:10!  At around 8:45 Amit was up and on his computer but Marinda was still asleep.  We've set up our google calendar to send us an email when we have a scheduled event coming up, and Amit got an email saying 'Doctor's Appointment at 9:10 today' or something.  Confused, he went into the bedroom to make sure he had the time right.  Upon hearing the news, a half-alseep, 8-month pregnant Marinda leaped out of bed and threw on some clothes to get ready to go to the doctors.  "I haven't seen her move that fast in months!" Amit said.  "I had no idea she had that much energy.  So why does she ask me to help her put her socks on again?"  In Marinda's defense, the adrenaline rush from realizing they might be late to their appointment had its consequences.  "I hope I never have to do that again," she said.  "I must have slept for hours that afternoon recovering!"  So yes, Amit, you still have to help Marinda with seemingly simple things.

The past few days have been fun and awful at the same time.  Amit has been sick since about Thursday night.  Don't worry, it's just a cold, but it was enough to make him pretty much useless and couch-bound for the past few days.  So what have we done?  We played Myst IV together!  What started out as Amit needing something to do while lying on the couch (there's only so many worthwhile things to watch on Hulu Plus) turned into a great adventure for the two of us.  "It's totally prepping us for the baby," Marinda said.  "Think about it - we're solving difficult puzzles together.  Amit's frustrated because his brain is half-fried and I have pregnancy brain, so we're simulating being sleep-deprived parents.  We have to learn patience and teamwork.  So in a way, we weren't playing a game, we were undergoing a team-building exercise!"

Fun Trivia - Did you know the Myst games were made by Ubisoft?
What other amazingly awesome game that Marinda is obsessed
with have they made?

As for Luke, it doesn't look like he'll be born anytime soon.  Marinda's contractions have all but stopped.  However, she is at 37 weeks (3 more week until D-day), which is considered to be full-term.  Stay tuned - it could be any day now!
