Marinda took this Halloween thing pretty seriously this year. Other than throwing a party on Monday, she also dressed up all week in two different costumes. On Monday she was the Tragic Woman in Black, and the rest of the week she has been dressed up as Zombie Marinda! Wait, you mean she wasn't acting? That's just how sick she's been feeling? See, look how seriously she's taking this! She is physically ill to stay in character.
The party on Monday was very low-key. The Misras invited all their friends (all 19.5 of them counting Durandal) over on Monday at 7. 7pm came around on Monday night, and no one was there....what a relief! What good party ever has people showing up on time? They did however have a handful of Trick-or-Treaters. Unlike last year when it was 3 high schoolers who really needed something better to do, this year they got to see adorable kids in the cutest costumes (and still a few high schoolers). Some of the highlights were: some kids from Children's Hospital, a little girl dressed up as Elpheba who was Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF. The first kid of the night was a little boy dressed up as a puppy dog. It was his first Halloween and he was super shy but super adorable, or as they say in spanish 'adorable'.
Later that night some friends came over. Their costumes were awesome! One couple came as rock stars with died hair and everything. The other person came as the Tooth Fairy. The party was incredibly scary - the girls did nothing but look at wedding albums.
The rest of the week was spent being normal. That is, until Friday. Friday was the day Marinda became an adult - she hit the milestone (or millstone?) of being 25. How great was her birthday? "It was perfect," Marinda said. "I have the best husband ever!" No, she wasn't being sarcastic. The morning started off with breakfast in bed. And not just normal breakfast, she got PANCAKES. And not just on a plate. On a SILVER TRAY. And not just any silver tray, a silver tray cover in ROSE PETALS. And to top it all off, a homemade card, MADE WITH A MAC. By the way, did we mention that Apple is now a corporate sponsor of this blog? Isn't it funny how we talked about a perfect husband using a mac? I wonder what would happen if you, reader, got your spouse a Mac? Would they also become perfect? Only one way to find out....
That was the beginning of the day. The only downer was that Durandal had to be taken to the vet again, this time for eye problems. So the duo dropped him off in the morning and picked him up after lunch. Where did they have lunch. "Chipotle!" Marinda is quoted as saying. Yup, they had a romantic lunch at Chipotle. Before that they got Marinda her birthday presents from Target: a britta filter, a shower curtain liner, a squeegee, and paper towels.
The day concluded with a trip to Golden Gardens, where they saw a magical sunset. Then they went off in search for food. After looking for Paseo, a Cuban sandwich restaurant and failing, they decided to return to the mall and go to Red Robin. They had been talking about getting chicken wings and milkshakes, and Red Robin is tough to beat. But the wait was 40 minutes so they decided to get a gyro from the food court first. Then they got their wings, shakes, and other food items. Sadly, it was only AFTER they got home and filled out the on-line survey that they found out that if they were part of the Red Robin club (or whatever it's called) they could have gotten a free Hamburger on their birthday! You know, the day AFTER Marinda's birthday!

Yesterday was special in that Amit and Marinda got a Papa Murphy's pizza and watched Fireproof. It was a nice night and a good conclusion to an exciting and adventurefull week.
